About me

I am a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Registered Nurse. After retiring from the NHS I wanted to follow a new career pathway and hypnotherapy offered me the ideal opportunity. Working with clients and enabling them to develop confidence, regain control, and achieve their chosen goals has been more than rewarding.

Solution focused hypnotherapy uses practical evidence based strategies to help clients make significant, positive changes in their lives within a relatively short period of time. The approach focuses on the present and the future,  not on the past. Clients are asked to consider their preferred future. What would be better if the problem had improved, what would they do differently, what would have changed? They are encouraged to identify their own unique solutions which can then become personal goals.

It is a collaborative process, and it is important for the client to understand that change happens because they want it to, and they must be prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.

Training, qualifications & experience

I gained my Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy at Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training, a recognised centre of excellence based in Bristol. My other qualifications include an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Open University, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Healthcare from the University of Oxford. During my time working in the NHS I specialised in the care of individuals and families who had suffered trauma, both physical and emotional. I was also responsible for the education, development, and wellbeing of the staff.  This experience has been both relevant and helpful in my hypnotherapy practice. I have a particular interest in helping clients suffering from anxiety, low mood, work related stress, insomnia, trauma, and phobias.

Further information

At the present time I am offering sessions online. And be reassured, hypnotherapy is just as effective online as it is in person. The initial consultation is free of charge. It is designed to assess what the client wants to achieve and explain how hypnotherapy can help, together with an estimation of how many sessions may be needed.

An important part of the initial consultation is an explanation of how the brain works. It is simple and easy to understand, and for many clients it is a 'light bulb' moment. For the first time they understand why they feel the way they do or behave in ways that they wish to change. The session ends with hypnosis, or as it is often referred to, trance.

Hypnosis or trance is simply a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state the mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting the suggestions enable clients to change unhelpful or negative thought patterns, training the mind to focus on positives.

So, if you are struggling to cope, feel overwhelmed, lacking in confidence, or have lost control, do not hesitate to get in touch and we can discuss whether hypnotherapy might be the answer for you.
