About me
My name is Darren Carter, and I'm an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist. I help people build lasting change through hypnotherapy from my practice in Wokingham, Berkshire, and online across the UK.
After more than 25 years in the corporate world, working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, I saw first-hand how stress and anxiety affect people's lives — and began mentoring and supporting colleagues through it. That experience led me to train as a hypnotherapist, and it's been my focus for the past ten years.
Since then I've worked with over 3,790 clients, with 134 five-star Google reviews, specialising in anxiety and addiction hypnotherapy under my own framework, The Darren Carter Method™.
My sessions are longer than most: a 90-minute first session (including your first experience of hypnosis), followed by sessions built around 60 minutes of hypnosis — giving proper time for the work that matters, rather than rushing it into a 30-minute slot.
I work with people facing generalised anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, overthinking, and workplace stress, as well as those looking to support their recovery from patterns around alcohol, vaping, smoking, gambling and other dependencies. Every programme is built around you — your triggers, your goals, your pace — rather than a generic script.
Sessions are available in person at my practice, or online via video call for clients across the UK. I'm registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and the National Hypnotherapy Society, a UK Accredited Register recognised by the Professional Standards Authority.
If you'd like to talk about whether hypnotherapy is right for you, I'm always happy to help.

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. Additional information
I charge by the session, not by the hour — so if we need more than the standard time to reach an objective, we take it. Pricing depends on what we're working on: general anxiety and everyday habits sit at the lower end, while addiction recovery, and my specialist wellbeing and performance work, are priced higher to reflect the additional depth and number of sessions typically involved. Packages are available combining a consultation with multiple sessions at a saving versus pay-as-you-go. Full current pricing for your specific situation is on my website, or I'm happy to talk it through on a free initial call.

Further information
My practice is based at Markham House, 20 Broad Street, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 1AH — a calm, comfortable, private space with parking nearby. I also work online across the whole of the UK via video call, and many clients choose a mix of both: an in-person first session followed by online follow-ups, or vice versa.
Every programme starts with understanding your specific situation, then sessions are shaped around you rather than a fixed script. I keep session numbers realistic — most clients see meaningful change within three to four sessions, with a clear structure rather than open-ended ongoing therapy.
I'm registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC190096, and all client information is handled in the strictest confidence.
