I am a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist BA Hons. DHP HPD DSFH CNHC MNCH(Reg). MNCP (Accred.) practising Clinical Hypnotherapy in Clifton, Bristol.
I am an experienced therapist, with a lifelong interest in mindfulness, neuroscience and extensive corporate experience. Cultivating curiosity and compassion over the years has helped me hone my approach and informs my work – with everyone from professionals suffering stress and fear of public speaking to sound engineers suffering tinnitus, to world-class actors and musicians looking to improve their performance. I’m humbled by the courage, strength and transformations it’s been my privilege to witness.
‘Having suffered with nerves and anxiety for many years and being in many therapies, I was in an exhausted place when I reached out to Annette. With hope and sight of the way out nearly lost, I was amazed at the transformation and timescale. Annette’s approach of shifting focus and perception is really refreshing. In addition to the understanding of why something is as it is, she combines this with a proactive approach of ‘this is what we’ve got, so what are we going to do with it?’ which I found really positive and empowering. A few tears in a therapy session was a normal experience for me, but happy tears of amazement at my own progress was entirely new, thank you Annette.’

My journey is one of transformation: it’s the motivation behind my vocation and the positive change I seek to inspire in others. Following family trauma in my early teens, I suffered episodes of anxiety that affected my confidence and performance. Through therapy and personal practice, I learnt how to manage destructive thought patterns, feelings and emotions, and the empowering sense of control and resilience this gave me – it was life changing. My interest in helping people achieve goals grew out of my interactions with friends, family members, mentoring students and team members – I have always been curious how individuals cope with trauma and stress. I went on to explore the mind and body in more detail, both through academic study and personal practice, later qualifying as a Clinical Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist.
It gives me great purpose to help people manage fear, stress and anxiety – and ultimately lead happier lives. I am an experienced Clinical Hypnotherapist, with knowledge and understanding in coaching and mentoring; coupled with a lifelong personal interest in mindfulness meditation, a rich performing arts history, and corporate experience heading up teams in production and project management. This multi-faceted experience has helped me hone my approach: a synthesis of therapeutic disciplines that informs and supports my work – with everyone from undergraduates suffering from exam anxiety and professionals struggling to manage stress, to world-class artists and actors looking to improve their performance.
Outside of the office, I deepen my understanding of mindfulness, acceptance, and compassionate awareness through daily practice, as well as attending retreats and workshops. I am particularly interested in the transformative power of the breath. I have performed on Radio and Television so understand the challenges of performance; I am a classically trained Violinist, and hold a BA Hons. (University of Kent). My interests include watching comedy and drama, reading, meditation, theatre, travel, politics, history, religion, spirituality and teaching my son the power of curiosity. I enjoy hiking and walking as well as practising yoga and pilates. Having lived most of my life in London, I moved to Bristol 12 years ago, so I split my time between both cities. I support The Inspiring Leadership Trust, an international campaign to inspire and empower vulnerable women and their families to achieve their full potential.
