About me
I'm a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, with 12+ years of experience. I can help you address your challenges by shifting your focus from over-analysing past problems to developing future-oriented, practical solutions.
Working collaboratively, we will focus on your present and future circumstance and goals,. I'll help you to visualise your preferred future and identify the resources and skills you already have to achieve it.
We will use a combination of focused attention, guided relaxation and mindfulness techniques to achieve a state of heightened awareness (trance).
Your mind is then much more receptive to metaphors and positive suggestions which will allow you to make the desired changes in your behaviour, emotional responses and thinking patterns at a subconscious level.
After our sessions, you’ll feel more calm, confident and in control.
Let me help you take the first step towards the life you deserve.
Specialty: Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy
Is ANXIETY ruining your life? Hypnosis can be an effective treatment for anxiety by helping you to enter a deeply focused, yet relaxed, state to enable you to develop new coping strategies and change negative thought patterns. It works by accessing your subconscious mind to implant positive suggestions, which can help you to reduce your stress levels and respond more calmly to triggers. (Usually 4-12 sessions)
Have you been SMOKING since you were a child? Did you think it was glamorous because you saw older people doing it? Does it control you now? Do you want to prioritise your health? Do you want to be a better example for the young people around you? Do you hate the smell and the taste? Could you find a much better use for those ££££'s you spend each year? Let me help... (Usually 1 or 2 sessions)
Want to LOSE WEIGHT? Hypnosis for weight loss uses guided therapy to help change behaviour patterns, habits and thoughts relating to food. It aims to create a more positive relationship with food and is especially effective when combined with other strategies such as diet and exercise. (Usually 4-12 sessions)
Do PHOBIAS stop you doing the things you want to do? Hypnotherapy treats phobias by guiding you into a receptive and relaxed state to access the subconscious mind. The usual fear response is reframed by using guided imagery and replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. (Usually 4 sessions)
Is a FEAR OF FLYING making you dread your next holiday? Hypnotherapy can be effective for a fear of flying by using cognitive, relaxation and visualisation techniques to reprogram the subconscious mind to view flying as safe. Addressing the underlying causes of, and reframing, negative thought patterns, a hypnotherapist can help you to feel calmer and more confident about flying. This is usually achieved in as few as 4 sessions, making it a pleasant and relaxing experience (Usually 4 sessions)
Do you lack CONFIDENCE? Hypnotherapy can boost confidence by using guided relaxation to access the subconscious mind, helping to replace negative thought patterns with positive beliefs and self-assurance. Through techniques like guided imagery and positive suggestion, it aims to address the root causes of low confidence and can help with specific challenges like public speaking or self-doubt. The process involves inducing a relaxed state to make the mind more open to new, empowering ideas (Usually 4-12 sessions)
Does IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME (IBS) affect you on a daily basis? Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based treatment for IBS that uses imagery, relaxation and suggestion to improve the communication between the brain and gut, which can significantly reduce symptoms like bloating and pain. Research shows it is effective for a majority of people and health organisations like the National Institue for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends it for those whose symptoms haven't improved with other treatments like diet and medication. (Usually 4-12 sessions)
Do you suffer with SLEEP PROBLEMS or INSOMNIA? Hypnotherapy for sleep uses guided relaxation to help change negative habits and thoughts relating to sleep, enabling you to fall asleep easier and sleep better. It works by inducing a trance-like state to promote a sense of calm and reduce anxiety, helping you to improve overall sleep quality and overcome insomnia. (Usually 4-12 sessions)
Is PROCRASTINATION a familiar problem for you? Hypnotherapy helps with procrastination by using practical strategies combined with positive suggestions and visualisations to re-train your subconscious mind to take action and increase your focus. Solution focused hypnotherapy focuses on what you need to do to achieve your future goals, rather than dwelling on past mistakes. (Usually 4-12 sessions)
Need help to manage your ANGER? Hypnosis can be used for anger management by accessing the subconscious to change negative emotional responses, thought patterns and thereby calming the mind. Through guided imagery and relaxation techniques, a hypnotherapist can help you identify anger triggers, practice calm responses and release pent-up emotions in a safe way. (Usually 4-12 sessions)
As an experienced Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, I have an integrated approach which is tailored specifically to your needs. I use a collaborative forward-looking, positive approach to empower you to find the solutions that are right for you and enable you to create the positive changes you want to make.
My approach
I want you to feel comfortable from the moment you make contact and throughout our work together.
Solution focused hypnotherapy is a gentle therapy which is also very adaptable. I'm often told by my clients how it has really worked for them when nothing else has helped.
I'll help you to understand your brain better and develop the skills and techniques to empower you to make the changes you need and want.
We’ll work together to find ways to overcome any problems, whatever your specific issues are; to achieve your goals and have the life you deserve.
Through a course of sessions you'll learn to recognise the strengths you already have; let go of anything which no longer serves you; open your mind to new possibilities and be ready to embrace new opportunites with a really positive mindset.
Arranging the first session is a huge step in the right direction.
Wondering what will actually happen in our first session together?
Firstly, we'll talk about the issues you'd like the therapy to help you with and what you'd like to achieve from the sessions. This may change as we progress but it gives us a focus to start with.
We'll talk about how these issues currently affect you and we'll discuss a little about your background. I can work with whatever you are comfortable telling me and, if there are things you don't wish to talk about, that's absolutely fine. The sessions are confidential and there is absolutely no judgement from me about anything you say.
I will explain how the brain works, why we can think and react to certain things in certain ways and what we can do to change those things for the better.
I'll relate this to your specific situation so that it makes sense to you, rather than it being an abstract idea that doesn't seem relevant. Being aware of, and understanding, why we behave, feel or think in particular ways is the first step to changing it.
After the session, I'll send you a hypnotherapy relaxation sound file to listen to each day and that will really start the change process moving.
The talking part of the session (psychotherapy) engages the conscious part of the brain and the trance (hypnotherapy) engages the subconscious part of the brain. This means that, instead of feeling like we're having a constant battle between the two parts of the brain, they begin to work together for your benefit.
And that's it. There's nothing scary at all, I promise. Simply gentle, guided support to help you make the changes you want.
Please feel free to contact me when you feel ready and let's have a no-obligation chat, to see if this would be right for you.
If you decide to go ahead with a course of sessions, we'll arrange a convenient day and time for our first appointment.
Subsequent sessions will include positive conversation about what's been good or better since the previous session; some further explanation around the brain; monitoring where you are up to on an agreed scale, to ensure you're moving towards your goals and then positive hypnotherapy to reinforce the changes you're making and allow your subconscious mind to get on board with your new, desired future.

Training, qualifications & experience
As an experienced, qualified Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist of over 12 years, I hold a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy from the renowned Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training School.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) is a modern talking therapy, based on the latest developments in Neuroscience. It combines solution focused questioning techniques with trance (hypnosis), to help people move towards their desired future, rather than focusing on problems from the past. SFH is goal-oriented and uses questions to help clients to acknowledge and build on their existing strengths.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy doesn't require the therapist to 'dig into' a person's past, so there's no need to continually talk about things that have already happened. This is not deemed necessary to help someone to formulate their best hopes and plans for how they want to move forward in their lives.
I am a trained Nursery Nurse and originally began my career working with children in a variety of settings, including a playgroup, day nursery, a women's refuge and working on a playbus (where I got to drive a double decker!)
I've also worked with adults with learning disabilities and worked as a Partnership Office for the Health and Safety Executive.
I've always felt that my calling was to help and support others to become the best version of themselves and that started my interest in and subsequent love affair with hypnotherapy and psychotherapy.
I care deeply about my clients' results and I want to help you to overcome your past and create a future where you feel in control, positive and happy.
Whether it's personal development; professional growth; dealing with a specific issue like anxiety or stress; a health issue such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); overcoming a phobia such as fear of flying or public speaking; or building your confidence to enable you to gain your dream job or start your own business - I can help.
Please get in touch and I can set up a free consultation for you.

info Information about health conditions (*)
Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

A sample testimonial. There are lots more you can read on my website.
I started seeing Anne for Anxiety and have had 4 sessions which finished last week.
I can honestly say that Anne has helped me tremendously. I came out of my first session feeling so much calmer and at peace with myself.
I find the sound bites invaluable and listen to them often. They are like a comfort blanket and are very calming and help me sleep.
Anne is a wonderful person and I could talk to her about anything. She is so easy to talk to and even though I feel a lot better within myself, I am going to carry on seeing her every few months so that I can keep up with implementing the tools she has taught me to help keep my anxiety at bay.
Julie.
