What to expect after your RTT session: A complete guide
Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT) is a pioneering therapeutic approach that combines the most effective parts of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, NLP, CBT and neuroscience to help create lasting change. This innovative method works by accessing your subconscious mind to identify and transform limiting beliefs and behaviours that may be holding you back.
What makes RTT different to traditional therapy?
RTT’s unique combination of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, NLP, CBT, and neuroscience allows it to effectively address a wide range of issues, including:
- anxiety and panic attacks
- depression and low mood
- creative blocks
- money mindset challenges
- sleep disorders
- smoking cessation
These areas highlight the versatility of Rapid Transformational Therapy®, enabling it to deliver results faster and more comprehensively than many traditional therapeutic approaches.
1. Rapid results
Unlike traditional therapy, which may require months of sessions, RTT often delivers life-changing results within one to three sessions.
One of my clients described it best. She'd had years of regular therapy for the issues she was experiencing with body image but, after only one RTT session, she had uncovered the root cause of why she felt the way she did. She described RTT as the 'missing piece' of the puzzle that she needed in order to make real change.
2. Integrated approaches
RTT combines multiple therapeutic approaches including hypnosis, NLP, and psychotherapy which makes for a truly powerful session.
I love the analogy of going to the dentist for an infected tooth to describe this best. When you're in a lot of pain, would you like for your dentist to tell you to come back next week and talk a bit more about the pain you're in? Or would you prefer for the dentist to pull out the infected tooth? Stupid question, right?! In the same way, with RTT, we want to get to the bottom of what is the underlying reason for whatever false beliefs that you're holding onto so that we can eradicate them.
3. Subconscious focus
RTT works directly with the subconscious mind, bypassing the logical, conscious layer to access deeply ingrained beliefs and behaviours.
Going back to the dentist analogy, we're able to get that infected tooth out, i.e. eradicate the false beliefs, because we're able to bypass your conscious, logical mind and get straight to your subconscious mind where all your beliefs and behaviours are formed.
4. Personalised support
The RTT session is very powerful but it's even more effective by listening to the personalised hypnosis recording provided after the session. Listening to the recordings helps rewire your neural pathways and solidify your new empowering beliefs.
What happens after an RTT session?
If you were ever thinking about taking the transformational step and booking in for a session of RTT, but are unsure of when to feel any changes, this article is for you. This comprehensive guide will walk you through what to expect after your session and how to maximise the benefits of your therapeutic experience.
Immediate post-session effects
The moments and hours following your RTT session can vary significantly from person to person. Many clients report feeling deeply relaxed and refreshed, just like waking up from a restful nap. I’ve actually had many clients fall asleep towards the end of their sessions because they are so relaxed!
However, other clients may feel slightly drained as they experience a surge of emotional release or feel complete mental clarity. All of these reactions are normal and part of the healing process.
Common immediate experiences include:
- A sense of deep physical relaxation and calmness.
- Heightened emotional sensitivity.
- Mental clarity or 'lightness'.
- Mild tiredness or desire to rest.
- Increased awareness of your thoughts and feelings.
The first 24 hours
I always advise my clients that the first day after their session is crucial for integration and to plan accordingly. The subconscious mind continues processing the therapeutic suggestions and insights gained during the session.
To optimise the session, it’s best to:
- Plan for downtime: Avoid scheduling demanding activities immediately after your session. Give yourself space to process and integrate the experience.
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to support your body's natural processing mechanisms. Some clients report feeling thirsty after sessions, which is likely due to the deep relaxation state.
- Listen to your recording: It’s very important to make time to listen to it each day. The hypnosis session is where we find the root cause of whatever issue you’re experiencing and we’re able to reframe the belief, which is why it’s so powerful, but it’s the recording cements the change. I recommend the best time to listen to it is before sleep because this is when your mind is most suggestible as you fall asleep.
- Journal your experience: Writing down your thoughts, feelings, and any insights can help integrate the session's benefits and track your progress.
The following week
During the first week after your session, you may notice various changes as your mind adapts to new patterns of thinking and behaviour. This period is essential for establishing new neural pathways and cementing positive changes.
You might experience:
- Vivid dreams or increased dream recall.
- Shifts in emotional patterns.
- Changes in sleep patterns (often improved quality).
- Spontaneous insights or 'aha' moments.
- Altered responses to previous triggers.
Long-term integration
Lasting change typically occurs over time as your subconscious mind integrates new patterns and beliefs. The effectiveness of hypnotherapy often builds progressively, with benefits becoming more noticeable in the weeks following your session.
To support this process:
1. Maintain consistent practice
- Carry on listening to your recording.
- Use any tools or techniques shared during your session.
2. Stay connected with your progress
- Keep a progress journal.
- Notice and celebrate positive changes.
- Be patient with yourself during the integration process.
- Maintain awareness of your thoughts and behavioural patterns.
How soon will I feel change after the hypnosis session?
The transformative power of RTT is best illustrated through the experiences of actual clients. While everyone's journey is unique, these stories (with names changed for privacy) demonstrate the varying ways people benefit from RTT.
Immediate impact
Marie's story demonstrates how even sceptics can experience profound changes. She came for a session to deal with anxiety which was affecting her in all aspects of her day-to-day life. She was originally very cynical that she would feel any benefits, but the day after her session she said, "I feel so much lighter - it's as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. I hadn't expected such an immediate change. I feel so positive."
Long-term transformation
Tracy's experience shows how the benefits can create lasting positive change. She initially sought help for anger management and, one year later, she said that her relationships had transformed for the better. The tools and insights gained in RTT had created a ripple effect of positive changes in her life.
Ongoing support
Anne's testimonial highlights the lasting value of therapeutic recordings: "Years after my initial session, I still regularly listen to my recording. It's become a reliable source of calm and centeredness in my life."
These experiences reflect common patterns we see with RTT:
- Sceptics often become believers after experiencing the effects firsthand.
- Benefits frequently extend beyond the initial presenting issue.
- The therapeutic recordings provide ongoing support and reinforcement.
- Changes can be both immediate and long-lasting.
- Positive effects often ripple out into multiple areas of life.
Common questions and concerns
How long will the effects last?
The duration of effects varies depending on the issue addressed and your commitment to the process. Many clients experience lasting positive changes, especially when following post-session recommendations and maintaining regular practice with provided tools.
What if I don't feel different immediately?
Change can be subtle or gradual. Some clients notice immediate shifts, while others experience changes over days or weeks. Trust the process and maintain your practice with your recording and any exercises.
Should I continue my other therapeutic practices?
Hypnotherapy can complement other therapeutic approaches. It's advisable to discuss any ongoing treatments with your healthcare providers to ensure optimal integration.
Should I reach out for support after my session?
While most post-session experiences are normal and part of the healing process, contact your therapist if you experience:
- unusual or persistent physical symptoms
- overwhelming emotional responses
- significant sleep disturbances
- concerns about your progress or integration
How can I maximise results?
Here are some tips to maximise your results:
- Stay committed: Follow through with any homework or practices recommended by your therapist.
- Be patient: Allow time for changes to integrate and new patterns to establish themselves.
- Practice self-care: Support your healing journey with good sleep, nutrition, and stress management.
- Stay connected: Maintain open communication with your therapist about your progress and any concerns.
RTT can be a powerful catalyst for positive change. Understanding what to expect after your session and how to support the integration process can significantly enhance your results. It’s important to remember that everyone's journey is unique, and the key to success lies in maintaining consistent practice while being patient and gentle with yourself during the transformation process.
