About me

Using a wide variety of hypnotherapeutic approaches, I see clients with a broad range of emotional, behavioural and physical issues including unwanted habits, low self esteem, anxiety, depression and pain control. I also work with young people to support them through challenges which may be holding them back. For those who are seeking change but do not require therapy, I provide coaching. A course of coaching can be an effective strategy for people who want help with their career or work/life balance, motivation and commitment and fitness or weight loss goals.

As a performing musician, I am especially interested in helping those in the creative and sports arenas to reach their true potential. This could be to overcome stage fright, let go of negative limiting beliefs, or to remain focused in order to succeed. With my in depth understanding of performance anxiety, I can also help others who have a fear of public speaking, presentation or exam nerves.

All therapy sessions are tailored to suit individual clients. Depending on your needs, I can combine solution focused hypnotherapy with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

I am based in Kent and South London, but can also arrange online sessions or personal visits under some circumstances - please email me to discuss.

Training, qualifications & experience

I graduated from London Hypnotherapy Academy, with the Rising Star Award for Outstanding Achievement. In addition to the Academy’s diploma, I have undertaken the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma which is licensed by the National Council of Hypnotherapy (NCH) - a professional membership and regulatory body for qualified hypnotherapists; and is the first nationally accredited hypnotherapy qualification awarded by the NCFE, National Awarding Body. I am a member of both the National Council for Hypnotherapy and Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, which ensure that their members adhere to a strict code of ethics and are committed to ongoing professional development. As hypnotherapy is largely unregulated in the UK, it is important to choose a hypnotherapist that is well trained, fully insured, and that is committed to following the rules and regulations of a reputable regulatory body.

I am trained in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, and NLP Coaching. I have also undertaken further training in specific conditions including depression, anxiety, and mental health.

I also hold a current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, so you or your child can work with me with complete peace of mind.

***TESTIMONIALS***

Weight loss

'A 10 year problem solved in an hour! I saw Caroline to work on my comfort eating. I had been trying to deal with the symptoms of the problem over 10 years, trying to build better habits, but without much success. It was causing potential health problems, and not controlling the habits was causing worse mental and emotional problems. I went to Caroline almost as a last resort, not entirely believing hypnotherapy would work. I had one session lasting an hour, and we got right down to exactly why I was comfort eating. Since then, instead of struggling with impulses to eat sugary foods, I have no interest in them at all. I feel happier and more effective, as I am not wasting energy and headspace on trying to be ‘good’; I am also feeling healthier. Caroline created a sympathetic, non-judgemental and calm environment, made me feel comfortable, and explained the whole process so I knew what to expect. I cannot recommend her highly enough!' (DH)

Depression - from a GP

'I really wouldn't have believed such a shift in mind set was possible especially after 2 sessions. It's life changing. You truly are a miracle worker. I'm recommending you left right and centre to friends. I really can't thank you enough.' (RW)

Addiction/motivation

'I approached Caroline with some caution initially as I'm sure many people do when first engaging with a hypnotherapist. I originally came to her simply to reduce my alcohol intake as I knew this was affecting various aspects of my life. Since then, I have not had a single urge to drink alcohol, especially when in social environments when I thought I might struggle the most.

I was so delighted in the results that Caroline and I achieved through our first session that I now have sessions with her on a regular basis. Since starting just a few months ago I have quit alcohol, gained a huge amount of productivity, started to realise my potential again and have even started a new business! None of this would have happened were it not for Caroline and her accessible, friendly and professional work.' (LC)

Exam performance (1)

'The session led to a really calm, positive and confident state of mind at a very high-stress time, and contributed both to C overcoming her mental blocks in the sports trials, and to her success in the highly competitive Art Scholarship exam and interview. She performed better than ever – won her sprint, and was even happy with the cross country and swim which were her big worries. Her frame of mind all week has been so incredibly positive and confident (without being overexcited or hyper), and one very welcome side effect has been that she has slept extraordinarily well! She usually has terrible trouble settling and a week like this would normally mean she’d be worse than usual, but she’s been doing the visualisations at bedtime and drifting straight off – unheard of!' (SR, C’s mum)

'I found the hypnotherapy really relaxing and great – it really helped me achieve my goals and when I practised it it helped even more. I’d say it’s a mix between meditation and hypnotism which is really good and relaxing!' (C, aged 11)

Exam performance (2)

'My daughter was suffering from anxiety and lack of confidence ahead of her GCSE exams so we booked her in for a few sessions with Caroline. Caroline was brilliant with her and was very understanding and calm. My daughter came away feeling much more in control and we noticed a definite boost in confidence. I can honestly say that the sessions were beneficial to her and I would recommend Caroline as a therapist'. (AB)

Hypnotherapy in pregnancy

'I may well be Caroline's furthest recipient for hypnotherapy residing in Australia! Caroline tailored an audio session for me as I was expecting my first child. I was very nervous about the birthing experience.

Caroline came up with a brilliant programme which I listened to repeatedly. It involved calming breathing techniques, visualisation & positive affirmations.

I can't speak highly enough of how it helped my nerves. As I got closer to my due date it became apparent a c-section would be safest. On the morning I was booked in I found myself petrified. I listened to Caroline's audio and it literally stopped me from my blind panic. The breathing techniques & visualisation helped bring me down to a relaxed state where I felt enabled to get in the car and meet our baby!

I truly don't know what I would have done without Caroline's audio hypnotherapy. It carried me through to theatre & ultimately to meeting our darling daughter! I can't recommend Caroline highly enough & am truly grateful for her confident reassuring techniques.' (MM)

Controlling IBS symptoms

“My IBS symptoms are now no longer an issue due to hypnotherapy. After my hypnosis I felt I was finally in control. Caroline has massively helped me and I could not be more grateful to her. Caroline’s patience and understanding of my issues really helped – she did not judge me or make me feel like I was crazy, I felt like she just truly wanted to help me. She is very calm and a good soul, and I cannot thank her enough – I would 100% strongly recommend. I have seen Caroline on two separate occasions now and will go back again when I need a bit of guidance and to calm my mind. This woman truly works miracles. I thought that I would be a mess forever but now my anxiety is controlled, my IBS is controlled, and I am able to live my life without any problems.” (HW)

Coaching for career development

“After being made redundant I went to see Caroline for coaching sessions to better understand what I needed to do to get back into work and find a fulfilling job. She provided me with excellent guidance and exercises that helped me to see my situation from a different perspective. From this I gained focus and a better understanding of what I wanted from a job. Following a couple of sessions I found a new job that is stimulating and is helping to develop my career. Having suffered from bullying in a previous job, I had some anxiety issues surrounding work. To address this, Caroline included in the sessions hypnotherapy/visualisations and taught me helpful relaxation techniques. I now practice these and have found them to be invaluable in managing this anxiety. Caroline is friendly and professional, I highly recommend her services if you are looking for better focus in positively changing your current situation.” (SM)

Addressing situations from the past and gaining acceptance with these

'Caroline was very professional throughout Email prior to the appointment and provided lots of details about how it works and whether it would be suitable for me. Since the appointment I think about myself a lot more; I know what I am and am not comfortable with and am able to let go of negative feelings and situations easily. I also have a different outlook on stressful situations and can now put myself first rather than worry about others opinions.

I feel like I have regained confidence in myself and know exactly who I am and what I can achieve. I trust my gut feeling and automatic decisions a lot more. Rather than trying to rationalise why I feel a certain way I just embrace this. I didn’t trust my gut decisions and used to talk myself in and out of situations, but through hypnotherapy I have learnt that my subconscious is always present and helping me, I should really listen to myself more rather than others.

I already have and would definitely do it again. Caroline is very professional and she provides such a valuable service for others. I would recommend all to have a session, even if it is just to practice relaxation.' (NJ)

Gaining confidence and moving on from difficult memories

'I wished to gain greater understanding of what I would like from my life and to gain strength within myself to feel better about who I am and move on from difficult relationship memories.

Instantly upon leaving the session I felt so relaxed, but so energised, like a fabulous and fierce part of me was back. I feel like it has also stayed with me ever since.

I feel more fearless about making decisions about what is right for me in my life and what is not, without the need to look back and question myself.

I feel more confident in myself and I feel like there is love for myself again, which had been missing for a while.

In my opinion some of the messages that were being fed into my sub-conscious and unconscious mind have stayed with me and are there when I meditate and when I begin to encounter problems. You were also very relaxed, confident and calming as a therapist, which is always lovely to experience.

I would most certainly recommend your services to anyone wishing to continue to do work on themselves. Also people in need of a little pick me up/boost to their daily lives.' (SJ)

Self esteem/family issues

'Before I met Caroline I was not feeling 100% confident in myself. I knew what my problems were but I did not know how to release myself from them. I was skeptical at first but after the first session, I felt good but was not entirely convinced until I went for the 2nd session. Then after 3 sessions I knew I was in a completely more positive and healthy state of mind. I did not react negatively towards stress and found myself making much better decisions in life. Thanks to Caroline I live life stress free!' (FF)

Unwanted habits

'I'm pleased to report my hypnotherapy sessions with Caroline (3 in total) have been successful so far, and I see no reason for that to change. Caroline was welcoming and explained how each session would proceed. She was skilful at putting me at ease and used imagery I could relate to and had no issue envisioning. Her voice is calm and relaxing. After the second session I became a non nail biter! I was slightly sceptical at the time but the proof is in my hands which I'm no longer ashamed to show.’ (JL)

Coaching

‘Caroline's coaching was invaluable in helping me to move on after a difficult redundancy, and to build the motivation and resources I needed to begin a new career path. She supported me in exploring my options and new possibilities, and in translating my vague ideas into plans, actions and results. Her coaching style is warm and encouraging while practical and down to earth, and definitely kept me focused on the positive aspects of the situation, as well as helping rebuild my confidence. I benefited enormously from my coaching sessions with Caroline and absolutely recommend her without hesitation.’ (LM)

Pain relief

‘I had three sessions of hypnotherapy with Caroline to help reduce my chronic pain. My first session began with a thorough consultation where Caroline took the time to understand the issues I was facing. Caroline asked me lots of different questions about my health, my symptoms, how my symptoms impacted on my quality of life and what I would like to get out of hypnotherapy. After my detailed consultation, Caroline began hypnosis. As I am familiar with meditation and mindfulness I thought I knew what hypnosis would be like but I was very pleasantly surprised. Caroline guided me into a deeply relaxed trance like state - I felt very peaceful and even euphoric at times! After my first session I felt more alert and awake despite having a broken sleep the night before.

During my next two sessions, Caroline really focused on the key issues I was facing, she used the information I had given her in my consultation to tailor hypnotherapy to my specific needs. Caroline used a variety of techniques to address these issues, including visualization, which I found very easy to imagine. After each of my sessions with Caroline I noticed an improvement in my pain levels and deep sense of relaxation. The hypnotherapy I had with Caroline has helped me to relax, find peace and better manage my symptoms. I would certainly recommend Caroline to anyone thinking about hypnotherapy.’ (EH)

Insomnia

'I've suffered from insomnia for at least 20-25 years - we did 3 sessions together, and I can now have a few more hours sleep. I also find it a lot easier to go back to sleep and stay asleep now, so I really have to thank Caroline for the wonderful work that's she's done, and I do recommend her to anyone who is having problems with insomnia or anything else because I think the way she does it is very relaxing. I do recommend her highly to anyone who'd like to give it a try for their problems.' (NA)

Building academic confidence

'I felt cared for and listened to, and came out of the experience with a better outlook on my PhD and a greater sense of inner strength. I felt able to actually complete my PhD, for the first time in a long time – also more sure of myself in academic settings and trusting my instincts a little more. The hypnotherapy sessions seemed to give me an uplift and freed me from some of my damaging thought patterns. They gave me a different way to think about myself and my work, and to connect who I was as a child and growing up to the person I am now. Caroline is warm, generous and very good at her job. I would not hesitate to recommend her.' (AK)

Depression and self-confidence

‘I came to Hypnotherapy fresh and curious about what it could offer. I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADHD (inattentive) and have experienced co-morbid problems with low mood and procrastination. The sessions were deeply relaxing and Caroline's approach was warm, considered and incisive. It was a really good experience and not a pocket watch in sight!’ (AT)
