About me
I'm a person-centred counsellor, hypno-psychotherapist, coach, and NLP practitioner based in Lancaster, with over 30 years of experience working therapeutically with individuals and couples across a wide range of settings. You can find out more about my work, including videos, at settledmind.com and thelancasterpractice.com/bob
Alongside my counselling practice, I draw on hypnotherapy, coaching, and neuro-linguistic programming, integrating these approaches thoughtfully and always with your informed consent. What matters most to me is finding what actually works for you.
What Brings People to See Me
Most people who come to me feel stuck. They've often already tried a number of things without finding the change they were looking for, and what they want now is an approach that's effective, collaborative, and gets results. I don't think it matters very much how we achieve that — what matters is that we do.
I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem and confidence, anger, and relationship difficulties. I also offer couples counselling. I have particular experience working with people affected by workplace bullying, coercive management, and harassment, the impact of which I think is often significantly underestimated.
A central part of my work involves exploring the beliefs we hold about ourselves, beliefs often formed in childhood or adolescence — and how profoundly those beliefs can shape how we feel and behave today. With the right approach, change can happen more quickly than people expect.
