About me
I’m Tamara Miller, founder of Rooted Calm Hypnotherapy. I offer calm, supportive, and personalised hypnotherapy online across the UK and in person in Parkstone, Poole, and Bournemouth - Dorset.
People often come to me when they feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or ready to approach something differently. My work is mindful and practical, helping you create tools you can return to beyond the session itself, such as calming anchors, visualisation, grounding techniques and personalised recordings.
Hypnotherapy is not about being “fixed” or losing control. You remain in control throughout. My role is to guide and support you, while we work together at a pace that feels safe, respectful and realistic.
How I work
My approach is warm, grounded and person-centred. I take time to understand what is happening for you, what you would like support with, and what you would like to feel or experience differently.
Some of the work may be forward-focused, helping you mentally rehearse future situations, build confidence, prepare for an event, create healthier habits, or practise responding differently to moments that usually feel difficult.
At other times, where appropriate, we may gently explore past experiences, emotional patterns, or older beliefs that may still be affecting how you feel today. This is always approached carefully, collaboratively and at your pace.
Sessions may include relaxation, guided visualisation, therapeutic suggestion work, calming anchors, future rehearsal, regression work and personalised recordings to listen to between sessions.
I believe change is a collaborative process. Hypnotherapy can be a supportive space to practise a different internal response, but it also works best when you are willing to listen to your recordings, practise the tools and engage with the process between sessions.
You do not need to arrive already calm. You do not need to know exactly what to say. And you do not need to relax perfectly. We begin where you are.
Areas I can support you with
- Anxiety, stress, and overthinking
If your mind often feels busy, your body feels on alert, or you find yourself overthinking the future, hypnotherapy may help you build calmer internal tools and practise returning to steadiness. - Fears and phobias
I support clients with fears and phobias, including fear of flying, fear of driving, fear of public speaking, fear of heights and other specific fears. We work gently and at your pace, often beginning with safety, grounding and calming anchors before moving towards more specific visualisation work. - Confidence and self-trust
Hypnotherapy can support you in reconnecting with confidence, self-trust and a steadier inner voice. This can be especially helpful during periods of change, uncertainty, decision-making or self-doubt. - Healthy habits
I support clients who want to create healthier habits around food, movement, routines, or self-care. This is not about shame, pressure, or perfection. It is about understanding patterns and building a more supportive relationship with yourself. - Sleep and relaxation
If you find it hard to switch off, relax or settle, hypnotherapy can help you create a calmer bedtime routine, reduce mental noise and practise a more restful internal state. - Grief, loss, and life transitions
Grief, relationship changes, career shifts and life transitions can leave you feeling unsettled or unsure of who you are now. Hypnotherapy can offer a gentle space to reconnect with steadiness, inner support and a sense of safety during change. - Athletic performance and race day preparation
As an endurance runner and coach, I also support athletes with race day confidence, performance anxiety, start-line nerves and mental rehearsal. Sessions can include race day visualisation, calming anchors, confidence work and personalised recordings to support preparation. - Regression work
Where appropriate, regression work may be used gently to explore earlier experiences, patterns or emotional responses. This is always approached carefully, collaboratively and at your pace.
What to expect
Step 1: The first step is a free consultation call.
This is a chance for us to talk about what you would like support with, ask any questions, and see whether hypnotherapy feels like the right fit for you. There is no pressure to book. It is simply a gentle starting point.
Step 2: If we decide to work together, new clients begin with a 6-session hypnotherapy package, which includes your initial consultation and first guided safe space visualisation.
This gives us time to understand what is happening for you, create a personalised approach, build safety, and develop tools you can practise between sessions.
After each hypnotherapy session, I send you a personalised recording to listen to at home. These recordings are an important part of the process, helping you reinforce the work we do together.
Step 3: Single follow-up sessions are available for existing clients who have already worked with me and would like extra support, a new focus, or a personalised top-up recording.
Online and In-Person Sessions
I offer hypnotherapy online across the UK via Zoom, as well as in-person hypnotherapy in Parkstone, Poole, and Bournemouth - Dorset.
In-person sessions are available in Poole, Parkstone, Bournemouth and Wareham, depending on room availability.
Online sessions can work beautifully if you have a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax and listen to my voice.
My approach in one sentence
Rooted Calm is a space to slow down, feel supported, and begin creating change at your own pace.
If you are curious about working together, please feel free to send me a message. You do not need to know exactly what you need yet — we can start with a conversation and see whether hypnotherapy feels like the right fit for you.

Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with
info Information about health conditions (*)
Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.
Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with
- Grief & Loss: Coping with the loss of a loved one, relationship breakdowns or life transitions can feel overwhelming. Hypnotherapy helps process emotions, find acceptance and gently move forward.
- Stress & Anxiety & Sleep: Whether work pressures, uncertainty or personal struggles are weighing you down, I guide you through techniques to reduce overwhelm and cultivate calm.
- Redundancy & Career Change: If you've been made redundant or are facing a major career shift, hypnotherapy can help rebuild confidence, redefine your identity and create a positive mindset for new opportunities.
- Relationships & Emotional Healing: From breakups to family conflicts, I support you in letting go of emotional pain, setting healthy boundaries and fostering self-worth.
- Guided Visualisations for Mindset & Performance: Whether you’re an athlete, runner or simply want to improve your relationship with food, I use visualisation techniques to help you cultivate healthy nutrition habits, mental strength and peak performance.

Further information
As with every kind of coaching or therapy, the rapport between the participant and therapist is an important deciding factor on how successful the outcomes will be. In order to get to know each other a bit better, I offer a free consultation call so we can talk about your goals, fears, worries, and any questions you might have about hypnotherapy or working with me.
Because confidentiality is so important in my work, I do not ask clients to leave public reviews. Instead, I share anonymous reflections with permission.
“Tamara was great to work with. I had my own ideas of how I wanted our sessions to go and she fully understood what I wanted to achieve. Each meeting was well structured and she allowed me a period of time after to settle and think about the next part of the journey. The whole process has been life changing and has helped me move on massively.”
“I loved working with Tamara. Her gentle and steady approach got me on a consistent improvement in spite of the many obstacles I faced, and the things I'm learning with her about myself are habits I can carry with me even when our course together is over.”
“I contacted Tamara, and having chatted for a while, it was the first time that I felt more connected and comfortable with the thought of therapy. Once I started the sessions, they gave me a better sense of where I was at with my thoughts and feelings, they helped direct me back to being more in the present than thinking of all the if’s but’s and maybe’s and going way too far into the future.
Tamara has a soft gentle calm tone and kindness to her, her understanding really helped me get to a more level playing field, which I really didn’t think I would be able to do. In addition to the sessions, Tamara sent the recordings, so that I can listen to them as a gentle reminder when I need it. I would truly recommend Tamara, as I’m so glad I found her. “
