About me
Anxiety and confidence don’t have to keep holding you back
Perhaps anxiety is taking up too much space in your life. You may be overthinking, doubting yourself, avoiding situations or feeling frustrated that fear is stopping you from doing things you know you are capable of.
You might want to feel calmer in everyday life, more confident at work, comfortable speaking in front of others or free from a particular fear or phobia. Whatever brings you here, I will take the time to understand how the problem affects you personally and what you would like to be different.
I use Cognitive Hypnotherapy and coaching to help people overcome anxiety, self-doubt and unhelpful patterns so they can feel more confident, capable and in control.
People often come to me when they have had enough of something getting in the way of who they want to be. They know, deep down, that there is more to them, but anxiety or a lack of confidence is making it difficult to move forward.
My role is to help you understand what may be keeping the problem going and support you in creating meaningful, lasting change.
Areas I can help with
I regularly work with people experiencing:
- Anxiety, overthinking and panic attacks
- Low confidence or self-esteem
- Phobias and specific fears
- Stress and feeling overwhelmed
- Sleep difficulties and anxiety about sleeping
- Public speaking and presentation anxiety
- Interview nerves and performance anxiety
- Work, career and confidence-related issues
- Personal development and making changes in life
- I have particular experience in helping people with work, career and interview-related concerns, drawing on my background as a qualified career coach.
As an active member of a public speaking club, I also understand the challenges involved in speaking and presenting in front of others. I enjoy helping clients move from dread and avoidance towards feeling calmer, more natural and able to express themselves confidently.
I am also a qualified Confident Childbirth Practitioner and can support people experiencing fear or anxiety around pregnancy and childbirth.
A personal approach, tailored to you
My approach is friendly, welcoming and relaxed. I know that contacting a therapist can feel daunting, so I want you to feel comfortable and at ease from the beginning.
I will treat you as an individual, not as a diagnosis or a label. Two people may describe themselves as having anxiety, for example, but experience it in very different ways and for very different reasons.
I listen carefully to understand what happens in your particular mind: what triggers the problem, the thoughts and feelings that accompany it and the patterns that may be keeping it in place. We can then use the most appropriate techniques for you rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
I am a fully qualified Cognitive Hypnotherapist and am registered with the professional bodies listed below, so you can feel reassured that I work to recognised professional and ethical standards.
What is Cognitive Hypnotherapy?
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a flexible approach that draws on hypnosis, coaching, NLP and other therapeutic techniques.
Rather than assuming that one technique will work for everyone, it allows me to adapt our work to your individual needs, personality and circumstances.
Many of our everyday responses happen automatically. You may consciously know that a presentation is not dangerous, that an aeroplane is safe or that you are capable of handling an interview, yet another part of your mind continues to react with fear.
Hypnosis can help us work with these automatic, unconscious patterns. It is not about losing control or being made to do something against your will. Most clients experience it as a pleasant, focused and often relaxing state in which they remain aware and able to respond throughout.
Where appropriate, I may also create a personalised hypnotic recording, known as a WordWeave™, for you to listen to between sessions. This is written specifically for you and reinforces the work we are doing together.
Once the immediate problem is no longer getting in your way, you may also choose to continue with coaching. This can help you build on your progress, develop your confidence and make more of your personal or professional potential.
Sessions
Our first session is usually slightly longer, giving us time to explore the history of the problem, understand how it affects you now and agree what you would like to achieve.
The number of sessions varies because every person and every problem is different. Some people notice significant changes relatively quickly, while others benefit from working together for longer. Many clients attend around four to six sessions, although this is only a guide.
The aim is not simply to make you feel better temporarily, but to help you create changes that feel natural, useful and lasting.
Taking the first step
You do not need to decide immediately whether therapy is right for you.
You can begin with a free, confidential and no-obligation telephone consultation. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what is happening, ask any questions and get a sense of whether you would feel comfortable working with me.
You can book a consultation here, through my website at www.lynne-wilkins.com or call me on 07887 992979.

Example success stories
“Lynne was recommended to me and she has enabled me greatly in overcoming the challenges of adapting to working for myself at home after many years in corporate environments. I had not previously experienced hypnotherapy and any scepticism was completely dispelled at my first session. Lynne is a great listener and I found myself totally at ease with someone who had a clear understanding of my challenges. Moreover, it was immediately obvious that Lynne is genuinely interested in helping others. Having anticipated generic solutions, I was impressed by Lynne’s bespoke approach and the very practical ways I have learned to adapt to new circumstances... many of which could be applied more broadly than the specific issues for which they were introduced to me. I have no hesitation in recommending Lynne to anyone who needs help in adapting to new, challenging circumstances.”
“Lynne helped me overcome a lifelong (50 year plus) fear of heights, which was totally debilitating in some circumstances. After just one session I was able to do things that I could just not have contemplated beforehand. For example, I’ve now been on the High Treewalk at Kew and felt no anxiety whatsoever. Best of all, Lynne has taught me some simple techniques that I can use myself to help overcome other stressful situations. Lynne was great to work with, very highly recommended.”
“Faced with a ten month career break and massive amounts of insecurity, Lynne has provided me with the necessary guidance and tools to get back on track. Following combined career coaching and cognitive hypnotherapy session, I now have a set techniques and tools which Lynne has skilfully tailored to my needs."
"She coached me on techniques to calm my nerves, and strategies how to navigate tricky situations by helping me to see an interview from the interviewer’s point of view. I feel so much better equipped when I go into a job interview. I also think this will stand me in good stead for other nerve-wrecking situations in future"
“I had cognitive hypnotherapy last year to overcome a 20-year fear of learning to drive. I’d had more than 80 lessons but never managed a test drive due to my extreme anxiety. I’d given up, but after starting my own business not driving wasn’t an option! I had two initial sessions with my amazing therapist, who then made me a bespoke recording which I listened to before each lesson and it worked brilliantly. I passed my test second time and I am now a very confident and happy driver”.
