About me

My name is Julie Escott and I'm an experienced Clinical Hypnotherapist.  I'm passionate about hypnotherapy because everyday I see how effective it is for a wide range of issues and problems.  Clients are always amazed at how relaxing and easy the sessions are and what a big change they make - people generally feel calmer and more relaxed and focused afterwards.

I and DBS checked and work with children from the age of 5yrs through to adults and older people and enjoy seeing the positive impact it has on their whole life.  It is wonderful to see people in their 70's becoming confident and assertive for the first time in their life, whose only regret is not coming sooner!  Similarly it's wonderful to see children leave without their anxiety and phobia's and able to face any challenges.

I worked as a social worker for over 25 years and have a wide experience of supporting people in all types of situations through change.  In the past I have been through some major life challenges myself - divorce, bereavements etc and tried counselling and psychotherapy to help.  But I found them to be slow and very limited.  Whereas solution focused hypnotherapy is a powerful way of bringing about the positive changes needed to enable us to cope with the challenges of life. I use my wide range of professional experience of clients to support my practice and ensure each client gets the best treatment plan for them.

Hypnotherapy is based on the latest neuroscience, and tried and tested techniques for enabling people to use their minds more effectively.  Without hypnotherapy we can be victims of our own minds!  We may know we want to be happier, or more confident,  or less self critical and anxious but just don't know how to control our own minds.  Hypnotherapy involves deep relaxation (or light trance), which is enjoyable, and enables me to make the positive suggestions you want to enable you progress positively.  Hypnotherapy also gives you tools to use to keep you in a strong positive place in the future, long after therapy has finished.

Solution focused hypnotherapy is a comfortable and positive form of therapy because it does not dwell on the problem.  Psychotherapy and counselling usually involve repeatedly talking about the problem, which is likely to be upsetting and does not move you closer to a solution.

I work face to face, via Zoom/WhatsApp/Skype and telephone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified with the prestigious Clifton Practice in Plymouth and am continually updating my knowledge base.

I previously worked as a social worker for over 25years so have a wide range of professional experience with children and adults with autism, dementia and their carers.  Also in fostering and adoption, as I have worked professionally with foster carers as well as having been a foster carer myself.

I am qualified as a life coach too but find hypnotherapy a more effective way of supporting people to achieve their goals.
