Having a better self-esteem and peace of mind is fundamental as it affects all areas of our lives. Some people try to manage their problems by 'self-medicating' with alcohol and drugs but unfortunately that causes the problems to spiral into even worse problems. I have helped many get on top of their addictions, fears such as fear of flying, fear of speaking in public, audition and exam nerves. Additionally clients who have experienced trauma have found my service extremely helpful in moving on.. It has been my greatest joy working with and seeing clients change to live life they way they want and deserve.

About me: My low self-esteem and unhealthy beliefs developed during my traumatic childhood when I was exposed to repeated violence and spent time in foster care. As a result, I left school without GCSE's and A'Levels and I didn't have a career direction for a long time. Eventually I experienced full blown panic attacks and suffered from depression while being bullied at work and harassed by an aggressive, unreasonable neighbour.
I undertook the journey of changing unhealthy beliefs and stopping disturbing thoughts and unhealthy behaviours as well as increasing my self-worth and that enabled me to make big changes in my life including a career change and becoming a hypnotherapist. I had many years of therapy however my experience with my clients have been that change is much quicker and easier with CBT and hypnotherapy because habits, addictions, beliefs and behaviours are rooted in the subconscious mind which is the part of the mind that hypnosis works with.
How I can help you: People manifest unconscious, unhealthy beliefs that are at the heart of emotional disturbance. Such beliefs can cause individuals to have unpleasant thoughts and emotions and unwanted behaviour, as well as unwanted habits and addictions; thus people think and behave in ways that sabotage important areas of their lives.
The subconscious mind is the part of our mind that ‘runs the show’; perhaps this makes sense to you because even though you have tried to stop certain thoughts, behaviour and habits, you can’t explain why they continue.
I use the philosophy and tools of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) combined with hypnotherapeutic techniques, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Processing (EMDR) to help clients.
Clients have found that sharing their concerns and difficulties with a warm, supportive and empathetic therapist has been hugely beneficial in helping them feel safe and therefore better able to explore their issues while working towards a better understanding of the cause of their distress and the resolution of their concerns within a gentle, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship. Additionally clients have found they have benefitted more from hypnotherapy in many others areas of their life than they anticipated.

I decided to take the plunge and sit a graded practical music exam as it was something I had always wanted to achieve. With just 8 weeks to the examination it became very apparent that I was suffering from extreme anxiety (shaking ,sweating and a sheer lack of confidence) when I had to play in front of stranger including my own tutor. I realised that without getting the correct help there would be no way I was going to pass the exam let alone enter the examination room.
I researched various Hypnotherapists online and came across Elaine’s web page which straight away ticked all the boxes. My first consultation with Elaine was over the telephone. I found her to be very knowledgeable and she showed a great deal of empathy when I explained the severity of my anxiety and explained the time frame I had set myself. A week after my initial phone call I met Elaine for our first session and to be honest I was very apprehensive and skeptical about the session that I was about to undertake. From the start of our session Elaine was very reassuring, calming and informative. She explained in great depth what would happen in the sessions and a realistic outcome of what would be achieved.
In my first session with Elaine I was very pleased that she was been able to pin point the route of what had caused my anxiety and it made perfect sense.
After just the first session with Elaine there was a significant change to my anxiety levels and my general wellbeing. I had 5 more sessions with Elaine and after each session I noticed changes in my anxiety levels. Before my exam I had to attend a rehearsal studio and play along with a pianist. This was something that I would never have been able to do. But with Elaine’s patience and reassurance I was able to this. I had been struggling to live normal with the everyday life, As, I was claustrophobic and in general I was anxious person. I was not able to live the way I wanted as I was feeling fear for lost things. Elaine helped me immensely. The therapies were great and relax.
