About me

I want to guide you in a journey of self-healing to help you overcome challenges that are holding you back from being your true, authentic self and achieving your goals. At DMC Hypnotherapy, I create a safe, non-judgmental and supportive environment at our comfortable therapy rooms in Leith, Edinburgh to help you feel at ease opening up.

As a qualified and registered hypnotherapist my approach is based on proven solution focussed psychology, CBT, NLP and mindfulness techniques. I believe that we all have the best answers within us, and my job is to unlock your full potential and teach you tools you can use the rest of your life.

I have been a hospital clinical pharmacist for over 25 years, working in the hospital sector of the NHS. In my daily interactions with patients, I have observed that many people could benefit from approaches beyond medication. While many medicines are effective for certain diseases, there are cases where they may be addictive, cause harm, or fail to address underlying conditions. This is often seen in areas such as mental health, pain, inflammatory conditions, and conditions related to the mind-body connection like IBS and even smoking.

I know this from my own personal experience during 2020, in the height of the Covid 19 pandemic, I was on the front line. I developed cramping stomach symptoms in the spring and by autumn I had time off work with fatigue. Of course, I now know this was burnout, but at the time I didn't know what was happening. After ruling out anything physical I sought out therapy myself. This was transformative and has opened my mind to so many possibilities that we sadly do not offer on the NHS.

Since then, I have also trained in meditation, mindfulness, life coaching, sound therapy, and tarot cards after experiencing the benefit of all of these myself. Please feel free to ask if you are interested in any of these additional areas.

I am trauma-informed and completed a paediatric hypnotherapy course in February 2025. I am consistently seeking further education and plan to undertake additional training in trauma/PTSD, neurodiversity and pain management, along with other areas of interest.

I offer in-person appointments on Friday afternoons currently in my therapy room in the heart of Leith, Edinburgh. I can also offer online appointments if accessibility is an issue or you live further away within the UK.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified with my Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma and Diploma in Clinical and Advanced Hypnosis in December 2024. In addition, I achieved Certified Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming in January 2025 and a Certificate of CPD for Working with Children and Families in February 2025.

Currently I cannot treat OCD, PTSD or severe depression, but I wish to work on qualifying to include these in the near future.
