About me
Perhaps you're the person everyone relies on or who rarely asks for help.
Capable, independent, holding it all together - on the outside. Inside, you might feel anxious, emotionally exhausted or quietly responsible for everyone else's wellbeing as well as your own.
I call this pattern The Strong One™ and if you recognise it, you're not alone, and you're not broken. You may find yourself people-pleasing, overthinking relationships, holding yourself to impossible standards or struggling to ask for (and actually receive) support.
You may already understand these patterns intellectually. You may still find yourself repeating them.
I'm Dorota Podjaska, a BACP-registered integrative psychotherapist and NHR-registered clinical hypnotherapist based in Leeds city centre (LS1).
I work primarily with high-achieving women who are ready to understand and change the deeper patterns behind anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, low self-worth, relationship difficulties and emotional exhaustion.
I also support clients experiencing the lasting effects of childhood emotional neglect, attachment wounds, relational trauma and complex trauma/CPTSD.
My approach
My work integrates relational psychotherapy, attachment-focused therapy, inner child and parts work, nervous system regulation and clinical hypnotherapy, so we're working not just with your thoughts, but with the emotional, relational and subconscious patterns still shaping how you feel, respond and relate to others.
Therapy with me is collaborative, personalised and paced carefully. You won't be expected to disclose or explore anything before you're ready. We build emotional safety together, understand the protective strategies you developed (often for very good reason) and create new ways of relating to yourself and others.
Clinical hypnotherapy is a core part of how I work, not something separate from therapy, but integrated alongside it. Hypnosis isn't about losing control: you stay aware and in choice throughout and it's always used with your understanding and agreement.
Our work together may help you to:
- understand and change recurring emotional and relationship patterns
- regulate anxiety and emotional overwhelm
- develop stronger boundaries without the overwhelming guilt
- soften perfectionism and chronic self-pressure
- build self-trust, self-worth and a more secure sense of identity
- create healthier, more connected relationships
- feel safer receiving care, rest and support
My training includes a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, an MSc in Health Psychology, a PGDip in Integrative Psychotherapy and a Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, alongside ongoing clinical supervision and continued training in trauma-informed, relational and attachment-focused practice.
I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory call, so we can talk about what's brought you here, answer your questions and see whether working together feels right.
Sessions available online across the UK and in person in Leeds city centre.
