Richard Olley - Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy
What is hypno-analysis?
I specialise in hypno-analysis, which is an in-depth process designed to resolve problems or behaviour patterns such as insecurity, anxiety, low self-esteem, addictions or jealousy that may go back many years. If you have trouble making relationships work, for instance, or losing weight, this style of therapy may well help you to make profound and lasting changes. It is very unlikely that anyone is born with problems like these - they develop in our lives as a result of sub-conscious programs that we unknowingly pick up, mostly in childhood.
How does it work?
Under Hypno-analysis the client re-visits those early events and in doing so is able to describe them, along with the emotions felt at the time. This enables the subconscious to discharge the emotional hold which the event has continued to have over them. A client told me recently that she felt as if I had taken a heavy rucksack from her that she didn't realise she had been carrying.
Releasing your true potential.
By definition, we cannot be consciously aware of our sub-conscious beliefs, and many people spend their whole lives thinking 'it's just the way I am'. The good news is that unhelpful or limiting sub-conscious beliefs can potentially be replaced by more positive ones, and the results can be life-changing.
What is it like to be hypnotised?
For anyone who has any concerns about hypnosis, I can assure you that you will at all times be aware of what you are saying, and can come out of the state at any time. It is simply a state of deep relaxation that allows you access to memories and emotions that would otherwise be inaccessible to you. I have never met anyone yet who is un-hypnotisable, or who did not find it a pleasant experience.
What happens in each session?
The first session, which is free, sets out to establish exactly what the client would like to change. It also provides an opportunity to establish that we are both happy to work with each other, because openness and trust are essential. Subsequent sessions would involve me helping you to become deeply relaxed, and then you letting your subconscious mind wander through a wide range of childhood and teenage memories - a process known as 'free association'. Some of these memories may not seem relevant at first, but they will gradually home in on the key issues which you need to release. Clients frequently find that they dream vividly between sessions and this signifies that the subconscious is working away to resolve past issues. When the process nears completion, the dreaming returns to normal, typically after six to twelve weekly sessions.
What can I expect to achieve?
At the end of the process I would expect a typical client to feel far more relaxed, confident, unburdened and happier in their own skin. In many cases the outcome can be truly life-changing. If, for example, one of your subconscious core beliefs is that you don't deserve to be treated with love and respect, you may have spent many years being attracted to partners who will not love and respect you. By changing the core belief, you change who you are attracted to, and consequently find a partner who treats you with the love and respect that you deserve.

I offer a free initial consultation which can take 1 to 2 hours which is completely without obligation. During this time I take a detailed client history and give an honest assessment of whether I think I can help. If I can, and the client is happy to proceed, we agree a timetable of weekly sessions which are charged at £60 per hour. The number of sessions required may be as few as 1 or 2, and is very unlikely to exceed 12 or 15 even in the most complex cases.
I offer daytime, evening or Saturday sessions
