I have been intrigued with the mind for many years; right back to Secondary School. This curiosity heightened and developed over the years.
After visiting a hypnotherapist in Belfast my mind was blown away, I needed to know more, but not only know more, I needed to learn how to be able to use hypnosis and allow other to feel the same effects.
It was only then I truly realised how powerful our minds actually are. How we allow negativity and fears to hold us back in life. How we put limitations on ourselves and allow others to do the same, how our thoughts affect how we feel about ourselves, our emotions, our very existence.
I trained in Dublin and achieved my Diploma in Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapy. Module after module fueling my desire to learn more. To come to the realisation Hypnosis is more than an alternative therapy, it can be used in conjunction with modern medicine.
In 2015 I became an Approved Instructor of Hypnotherapy under the American Board of Hypnotherapy, and continue to learn on a daily basis.
The most common perception that people have about hypnosis is stage shows and showmanship. Clinical Hypnosis has nothing to do with Stage Hypnosis.
Sometimes it is these perceptions that prevent people from allowing themselves to experience the feeling of beautiful relaxation, to free their minds of worries, stresses, anxieties and anger, to release themselves from their fears and phobias. Clinical Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy give people more control over their lives – not less.
Hypnosis itself is only a state of relaxation with an altered state of heightened awareness. So people are not treated with Hypnosis, they are treated while under Hypnosis.
When Hypnosis is used the subconscious mind can then accept positive suggestions which allow the person to change their feelings and desires, to build self-confidence, motivation, focus and self-esteem and alter behavioural problems, allowing pain relief, stress management, addressing addictions, eating disorders, alcohol and drug abuse, obsessions and compulsions etc.
Sometimes I simply refer to myself as a Mind Coach. Many have Personal Trainers for the physical body, to help and show you how to enhance your body, but it is also important to have the Mind in peak condition, and many athletes are now doing just that. We have many coaching techniques in the fitness industry. I work with many athletes using powerful visualisation techniques assisting athletes to achieve self belief and true potential by lifting their limiting beliefs and by using concentrated focus techniques, enhanced motivation. The body will only go where the mind allows it to go. Many have made change in their life through hypnotherapy, including their fitness goals, social and professional and emotional life.
We often confuse a Wish with a Goal, a Goal takes commitment, time, effort, it is a need or a want that will be achieved when we address the issues that hold us back. A goal takes planning, commitment and work. A Wish is a Goal without a plan.
Working with dancers from different various backgrounds, from pole to Irish dancing, runners, weight lifters, body builders, martial artists and cage fighters, to the more relaxed events like dressage and other equestrian activities. All sports men and women can benefit from Mind Coaching and thousands do, but using various forms of hypnosis it really does make that difference and provide that edge.
Hypnotherapy should not be seen as a last chance salon, it should be seen as a first stop remedy, where the root cause can be treated and addressed – not the symptoms.
Hypnotherapy is the fastest, easiest and most natural way to achieve the changes you want.
