'New Year, New Start' - Happiness, Health & Prosperity For You

January 20th, 2012 by Stephanie Kirke MSc.DipHP, AccHypSup, MBPsS

The wonderful thing about a new year is that we all have an opportunity to do some things differently. Whether it's about aims, ambitions, challenges or an opportunity to just start over. You can you know.... and sometimes it just makes sense to consider this for a moment. You can the power of your own mind, at the deepest levels, using self-hypnosis,....to help you make this difference a reality....just continue reading the text in a relaxed and casual manner.....or if you wish to listen to this as a pleasant recording, ....go the the practice website and take advantage of the January discount.....

When you think clearly, …....understand, …...making Resolutions is different,...compared to keeping Resolutions by following through.....

Ordinarily, it might seem a dismal fact, that after we start with huge commitment, very often, it has all but disappeared but by the end of week one, if not before. There are reasons why our efforts can drop off the edge of the cliff of motivation.....lets examine further and avoid these at all cost.

Use your left brain, the one that is logical and rational and is much of the time on a conscious level, AND importantly, combine this with using your right brain,......the part of your mind that is responsible for changing how you do things differently. This can be done realistically by doing the following:

Firstly, sit comfortably....in your minds eye, see yourself starting …..begin in small ways, be realistic, build up the image to cover more time – let it grow into what ever it is that you are aiming for. Logically, break down the large expanse of ideas in to managable parts, keep the over-view clear and visible, listen to your instinct and form your plan. Call upon your inspiration to come up from the depths, give your motivation a boost, and get this project of your going.

Give this process of doing, a time line, enough time needs to be given to reach the successful conclusion with the overall plan.

So, as you start by doing some thing small, continue to do it often. Your momentum will continue and you keep it in that frame, effective and working in the way you want it to.

Example, exercising more, starts with a step in the right direction, followed by many more and often, enough to help your body drop heavy pounds.

The consideration is to get some enjoyment from the thing you have chosen – as you do it differently, include enjoyment. People that advocate 'no pain, no gain' have a lot to answer for. Remember …...- as human beings, we tend to go towards that which gives us pleasure, and on the other hand, we get as much distance between ourselves and pain as is possible. Pain is not good, it just hurts. Understand.... pain brings it's own endorphins at the physical level – these are the feel-good chemicals that the body makes naturally. And here we are again, back in the pleasure zone, looking good and feeling great.

So think about this – just for a short while. Remember, thinking is different from doing. But the question still remains, how do you get from thinking to the behaviour of doing things differently?

Following through is something that comes from really, really, wanting something – badly enough to suddenly make it happen! Rather than feeling 'I should', or 'I must' and ending up in the pit of procrastination, making sure that what ever it is you want, you want it badly enough to make it all happen, not just a little bit, or a bit here and a bit there. You can make it ALL happen – together!.

So... feeling motivated fully to follow through and behave differently, comes from 'I want to', 'I really want to', and of course, it helps to have some sort of payoff, benefit or reward at the end of all this doing things differently. Remember..... capitalise on the 'enjoyment' of doing, this also represents benefit, reward and is the real pay-off afterall.

When you enjoy doing, what you really want to be doing, this is enough to get you to where you are heading.

Frankly, nothing will get in the way of you achieving that which you have set yourself, ...when you enjoy doing what sometimes is really tough, really hard to do. You can you know.

For example, drinking less alcohol feeling better more of the time, is a very rewarding ambition to follow through with. However, most start on this with thoughts that the whole aim is going to be 'painful' or 'hard' in the initial stages at least. The scene is set with the wrong back-drop here. Instead of starting off with a play about Success, the player is dropped into the play with an opening scene of pain and failure. Re-setting the scene is essential. Finding the right levers so that a player discovers his own successes are close to hand, comes along more easily. For example, getting better night's.... sleeping soundly, having great looking skin, clear and clean ...having more energy that last longer....even as the years go by...

These are the levers that re-set the scene. Knowing that your liver is going to have less of a struggle, will help any player function in ways designed to motivate and inspire, without alcohol grinding down the health of the player. It's likely that with a healthier liver function, the player lives longer, doing the things that s/he really enjoys. Knowing that players can release themselves from debilitating substances,... empowers, liberates and feels fantastic in terms of genuine freedom,.. to be yourself!

Accept the fact that when you know better, you do better!...and this is a fact worth enhancing.....

Discover those things that still defeat or deflate you. Get savy with them, remember......knowledge is power. Enjoy this as a challenge too. What a great sense of achievement, to succeed at something that is really challenging? …rather than be content with achieving the simple or easy stuff.

Whether it be about stopping smoking... eating healthy,.. eating less.. Whatever....

Whether it be about walking further... on a daily basis... enjoying the feeling of fresh air, as it does it's job, Whatever,....

Whether it's about getting a new job, starting to save money (even in austere times), getting back into reading that book and finishing it. Whatever.

Whether it's about starting a study course that will improve your career prospects, as you realise your horizons stretch wide and far,.... Whatever.

There are countless ways to improve your experiences on a daily basis. Re-frame ineffective thinking to become effective clear minded motivation,.... re-programme your creative unconscious mind to change your behaviour for the better,... create clear messages with the deeper part of your creative mind and find that changes happen naturally.

Create your healthier ways of living, with more enjoyment in your daily experiences, with yourself, for yourself, and for all who touch your life within the boundaries of time – you will succeed…..enjoy happiness ..better health... and prosperity can be yours.....
