Many of my clients have told me that they are fed up with just medicating their depression - they may, if they are lucky, have been offered a limited amount of CBT or counselling on the NHS. Yet still their depression persists.
I have been working with people with depression and we attempt to get to the bottom of WHY they are depressed and then to evolving strategies to cope with it. Sometimes some of it may be diet related - which can be addressed by a change in what they eat.
They have a particular mindset that says that the light at the end of the tunnel is definitely a train coming in the opposite direction! This is when they are in a negative mindset and, this is often learned from trauma, a bad experience or childhood, and can be combated by cultivating a higher quality of mindset.
The work of people like Byron Katie have lead the way in understanding that it is possible with the help of a skilled hypnotherapist to change your mindset and use some other approaches from NLP to change states - this combined with the powerful tools of hypnoanalysis offers a way forward.
