About me
About me
Hello, I’m Vivien, a qualified Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist and Executive & Wellbeing Coach.
I run New Leaf Coaching & Hypnotherapy, where I offer a warm, supportive and practical approach to helping people make positive changes in their lives.
Sometimes we can find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, stressed, stuck or simply not quite like ourselves. You may know exactly what you would like to change, or you may just know that you want to feel differently.
My role is to help you focus on where you want to be and the small, achievable steps that can help you move forward.
I use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH), a modern approach combining solution focused psychotherapy with hypnosis. Rather than spending a great deal of time analysing problems or repeatedly revisiting the past, our sessions focus primarily on your strengths, resources and the changes you would like to make.
I also explain how the brain can respond to stress and why certain patterns of thinking or behaviour can sometimes become difficult to change.
Understanding what may be happening can itself be incredibly reassuring and gives us a useful starting point for moving forward.
How I work
Sessions are collaborative, relaxed and focused on you.
We look at what has been going well, identify the changes you would like to see and gradually build on the positive steps you are already making.
Hypnosis forms part of the session and is a state of focused attention and relaxation. You remain in control throughout.
People may choose to explore hypnotherapy when stress or anxiety is affecting how they feel, when sleep or confidence has been disrupted, or when they want support to make positive changes to habits, behaviours or performance.
I have a particular professional interest in women’s wellbeing and the different stages of women’s lives, including times when hormonal change may affect emotional wellbeing, stress and everyday life. My role is to provide complementary emotional and wellbeing support rather than replace appropriate medical care.
I also enjoy working with people who want to strengthen confidence, resilience and performance, including professionals, leaders and people involved in sport.
My background
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 25 years working in the public sector in roles involving leadership, management, strategic planning, performance and organisational change.
That experience has given me a strong understanding of the pressures that can come with demanding careers, leadership responsibilities, managing change and balancing work with life outside it.
Alongside my hypnotherapy practice, I have Master of Science degree in Management, and I am an ILM Level 7 Diploma qualified Executive Coach & Mentor, which means I can also offer coaching or, where appropriate, combine coaching and hypnotherapy.
I continue to undertake professional development and have a particular interest in women’s health and wellbeing, stress, performance and supporting sustainable positive change.
Taking the first step
Finding the right therapist is important, so I offer a free 15-minute Discovery Call where we can have an informal conversation about what you are looking for, how I work and whether I may be the right person to support you.
I offer appointments face-to-face in North Wales and online, giving you the flexibility to choose the option that works best for you.
There is no pressure and no obligation to continue.
Sometimes making the decision to begin is the biggest step.
Change begins within.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, holding both the Level 4 Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD) and the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH), completed through Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training (CPHT).
I am also an ILM Level 7 qualified Executive Coach and Mentor and have additional training in wellbeing coaching.
Alongside my therapeutic and coaching qualifications, I hold a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Management, with my postgraduate research focusing on successful change management processes. I also hold an ILM Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
Before establishing New Leaf Coaching & Hypnotherapy, I built more than 20 years’ experience across the NHS and Local Authority, including senior management roles. My professional background includes leadership and people development, strategic and operational planning, organisational change, performance management, service improvement, governance and managing complex projects.
Coaching has been an important part of my professional career. I have coached and mentored individuals and teams within organisations and previously worked independently as an Executive Business and Wellbeing Coach, supporting people with leadership, performance, development and wellbeing.
I continue to undertake regular professional development alongside my clinical practice and have a particular professional interest in women’s wellbeing, stress and emotional wellbeing, confidence, performance, behaviour change and personal development.
I am committed to ongoing learning, professional supervision and working within appropriate professional and ethical standards.

info Information about health conditions (*)
Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Further information
I understand that taking the first step towards seeking support can sometimes feel daunting, so I aim to provide a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental environment where you can feel comfortable and supported.
My approach is solution focused, which means we spend less time analysing the problem and more time exploring your strengths, resources and what you would like to be different. Sessions are collaborative and tailored to you, with a focus on achievable positive change.
Alongside my general hypnotherapy practice, I have a particular professional interest in women’s wellbeing, including supporting women through different life stages and times of hormonal change. I am committed to continuing professional development in this area and to providing complementary emotional and wellbeing support alongside appropriate medical care where required.
My background in senior management and executive coaching also means I have a particular understanding of workplace pressure, leadership, performance, managing change, confidence and maintaining wellbeing alongside demanding professional responsibilities.
I offer appointments face-to-face in North Wales and online, making sessions accessible to clients further afield.
If you are unsure whether hypnotherapy, coaching, or a combination of the two may be right for you, I offer a free 15-minute Discovery Call. This gives us an opportunity to have an informal conversation, for you to ask any questions and to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.
I work within professional and ethical guidelines, undertake regular supervision and ongoing professional development, and place confidentiality, client wellbeing and professional standards at the heart of my practice.
Change begins within.
