About me

Sally Potter is a Solution Focused therapist and hypnotherapist who supports women to rediscover themselves and their wellness.

Using emotion-free language and questioning, Sally creates the right environment for women to improve their energy, decision making and control, to move towards a healthy lifestyle and regain confidence and balance in all aspects of their lives.

"During my first consultation with Sally, she mentioned the words 'almost like magic' . Well, for me, that almost feels like an understatement."  MC

Sally trained as a radiographer in Plymouth and enjoyed a 15 year career in the NHS and private sector before starting a family and moving with her husband to live in Africa. In 2005 Devon beckoned once more, and the Potter family has been settled here since then.

Sally trained in Hypnotherapy at the Observatory Practice in Plymouth in 2015, part of renowned Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training, and is qualified in Hypnotherapy (HPD, DSFH). Sally is also a fully qualified Solution Focused BRIEF therapist and a certified Muss Rewind Therapist. In addition, She has studied with Dr Sarah McKay at the Neuroscience Academy, and has a certificate in Applied Neuroscience. In 2023 Sally gained the Diploma in Medical Hypnotherapy from the Clinical Hypnotherapy School.

Clients can choose to see Sally online or at her home practice just outside Ivybridge. Sally also offers online relaxation and journaling sessions, and holds retreats 2-3 times a year.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy from the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training school and also the Hypnotherapy Practioner Diploma, both awarded in 2016.

I am also a certified Solution Focused BRIEF therapist, and a certified practitioner of the Muss Rewind for the alleviation of Trauma and PTSD. I study with Dr Sarah McKay at the Neuroscience Academy ( I hold the certificate in Applied Neuroscience) and Mike Mandel at Mike Mandel Hypnosis.

My first qualification after leaving school was the Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography. I enjoyed a career in radiography in Plymouth, Southampton (specialising in paediatrics) and Woking, for over 15 years before leaving to bring up our family.

I am a published Author of The Art of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, a collection of case studies, where I wrote the chapter on OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

I have a great deal of experience with clients with anxiety, depression, phobias,  pain, self-esteem and confidence issues and much more.

In particular, I excel at supporting women who have experienced loss (of confidence, of relationships, of loved ones) to rediscover their sense of self and create impact in their business and personal lives.

I have also had a great deal of success helping men who have been very cynical of the benefits of hypnotherapy, who have come to me as a last resort, and turned their lives around.

I recent years, I have built a significant practice working with teenagers and children from age 10, to understand their emotions and manage their feelings. For this I draw on the model of neurobiology described by Dr Sarah McKay of  'Bottom Up, Top Down and Outside In'  influences. This is combined with the Solution Focused approach and tools from the NSPCC.  I add in gentle conversational hypnosis, for an effective, fun and lasting experience.

Since lockdown, I have been hosting retreats for women on the southern tip of Dartmoor in Devon.

I have been seeing Sally at Aloft Hypnotherapy for a few months now. Her gentle, calm and caring approach has helped me control and overcome some bad anxiety habits, that were affecting me physically and mentally.

Thank you, Sally, for your wonderful Hypnosis sessions, support and guidance! Highly recommended! Jasmine, Noss Mayo

I have been working with Sally for some weeks. The whole experience is of a wonderful happy time of sorting out and calming one's thoughts. I have never slept so well in all my life. I can fully recommend the Aloft experience. Ruth, Yealmpton

The combination of a demanding job and family life left me feeling completely overwhelmed and out of control. This led me into a vicious circle of poor sleep, acute anxiety and procrastination. I was desperately unhappy and fearful.  Working with Sally at Aloft Hypnotherapy has enabled me to break out of this cycle and move forward.

Within a few sessions, I was able to relax, understand the reasons for my behaviour and control the panic attacks. I now practice what I learned every day and have a completely different outlook on the world.  This has enabled me to achieve more and to focus on the things in my life that make me happy.
Jonathan, Ivybridge

I have made some great progress with you Sally, very powerful, thank you! Deb, Ivybridge
