About me
How can Solution Focused Hypnotherapy help you?
- Would you like to feel more confident, happier or simply calmer?
- What about being free from anxiety or fear?
- What difference would it make to you, and everyone around you, if you felt more joyful and positive?
- Can you imagine sleeping well every night and waking up energised and refreshed?
- How about feeling more motivated, able to focus on what you want to achieve or improving your performance?
A qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, I work with clients at my home clinic in Chippenham, covering the Bath and Wiltshire area, or online.
My journey
I discovered Solution Focused Hypnotherapy after my wife booked me in - I admit I was a complete sceptic at the time. I was dealing with a very worrying family situation and was completely paralysed in the fight-flight-freeze part of my brain. I just could not see any way forward or how this could help.
The first session explained how and why my brain was responding like this, and it literally blew my mind. I was 45 years old and had no idea how my brain worked!
I found these sessions incredibly helpful and am now looking forward to helping other people on their journeys.
I trained at the renowned Clifton Practice in Bristol and received my Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy (DFSH). I am registered with the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am also fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS certificate, which allows me to work with both adults and children.
Outside of work, I am a huge fan of martial arts and teach aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art, which I have been training in since 1997. I also really enjoy Brazilian jiu-jitsu and train a few times a week. I am trilingual and previously lived and worked in Paris, France, and Santiago, Chile, after studying in Central France and also Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. I have been a solo entrepreneur for many years, working as a translator and also previously taught English as a foreign language.
What drives me?
I am passionate about helping people understand how their minds work so that they can take charge of their thoughts, feelings and behaviours and make the positive changes that they want to see in their lives.
I feel honoured and privileged to be able to support my clients to achieve their goals, overcome issues they may be facing, improve their wellbeing and maximise their potential.
I look forward to helping you too!

“I have experienced anxiety for a number of years now, affecting my daily life. I spoke to Richard about the solution-based approach and was interested in seeing how it could help me get on top of how I have been feeling. So far, I have noticed really positive change following my sessions, where I feel myself taking control of situations I previously wasn’t able to. This makes me feel empowered to do more of what I enjoy! It has meant so much to see and feel improvements in my anxiety levels, allowing me to enjoy the simple things again and have more headspace for the things life throws my way. I look forward to continuing my sessions and making more progress, thank you!”
