About me
If you think about food far more than you'd like to, feel guilty after eating, find yourself bingeing and then promising to be 'good' tomorrow, or have simply had enough of dieting, this is the work I do.
I'm Natalie, a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist based in Hove. I help adults of all genders find a peaceful relationship with food, and with themselves. Most of the people I work with have spent years, often decades, trying to fix their eating with rules, plans and willpower. It hasn't worked, and they've usually decided the problem is them. It isn't. The cycle of restriction, preoccupation and losing control is a predictable result of dieting, not a character flaw, and it can be unlearned.
I don't work on weight loss. There are no meal plans, food rules or weigh-ins here. My approach is anti-diet and recovery-focused: we work on the thoughts, habits and feelings that keep the cycle going, so that food takes up less space in your head and you can trust yourself around it again.
Sessions combine CBT and hypnotherapy. The CBT side helps you see and change the patterns of thinking that drive guilt, all-or-nothing rules and eating when you're not hungry. Hypnotherapy helps those changes settle in more deeply, so calm around food becomes something you feel rather than something you have to keep talking yourself into. It's practical, collaborative and paced to you.
This is personal for me. I spent decades searching for a way to feel 'fixed' around food, and I know how much room it takes up in a life, and how tiring it is to keep starting again on Monday.
I work online with clients anywhere in the world and in person in Hove. Everything starts with a free 20-minute consultation, which is a relaxed conversation about what's going on for you and whether this is the right fit. There's no pressure to book anything at the end of it.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold the Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (HDip CBH) from the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, a training that grounds hypnotherapy in evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy rather than treating it as a standalone technique.
I'm a registered member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, fully insured, and in regular clinical supervision with an experienced practitioner in this field.
My work focuses specifically on food and eating: food preoccupation, bingeing, emotional eating, guilt around food, and the patterns left behind by years of dieting. I chose to specialise rather than practise generally because this is where my own experience lies and where I think depth matters more than breadth. My approach is informed by the Health at Every Size framework and by current research on dieting, weight stigma and disordered eating.
Member organisations
Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC). Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level. All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice.
