About me

Sometimes people reach a point where something in life simply isn’t working as it once did.

Anxiety may be taking up too much headspace, sleep may be poor, confidence may have faded, or an experience from the past may still be affecting the present. Even the most capable, resilient people can find themselves feeling overwhelmed after coping with stress for a long time.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy helps the brain and nervous system settle so that change becomes possible again.

Hello, I’m Louisa, a clinical hypnotherapist, psychotherapist, lecturer and supervisor, and the founder of The Coleby Practice. I work with people across the UK and beyond who are looking for a calm, practical way to move beyond anxiety, trauma, stress and unhelpful habits.

My approach is solution-focused and brain-based, combining modern neuroscience with gentle hypnosis and practical psychological tools. Rather than analysing problems in detail, we focus on helping the mind move out of a stress response and back into balance. When the brain feels calmer and safer, it becomes easier to think clearly, sleep better and begin moving forward again.

Sessions usually include a relaxed conversation about what you would like life to be like, simple explanations about how the brain responds to stress, and a deeply relaxing period of hypnosis. Many people find this one of the most calming parts of their week.

People often come to see me for support with:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm
  • Stress and burnout
  • Trauma and PTSD (including Muss trauma rewind therapy)
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Confidence and performance
  • Phobias and unwanted habits
  • Emotional eating and weight management
  • Menopause and life transitions

Sessions take place online via Zoom, allowing people to access therapy from their own home, or in the therapy space in my home in Rugby.

Starting therapy can feel like an important step, and finding the right therapist matters. My aim is to offer a calm, safe space where you can pause, reflect and begin moving forward again.

Many of the people who come to see me are thoughtful, capable individuals who have been managing stress or anxiety for some time and feel ready for things to begin changing. They are often looking for a supportive and practical approach that helps them move forward without needing to revisit every detail of the past.

Training, qualifications & experience

My background is in person-centred counselling, which means warmth, respect and genuine curiosity about each person’s experience are central to my work.

I later trained in solution-focused hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, an approach that integrates neuroscience, practical psychological strategies and hypnosis.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am also:

  • A lecturer for the Solution Focused Training Academy, where I help train new hypnotherapists
  • A clinical supervisor registered with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), supporting therapists in reflective and ethical practice

These roles keep me closely connected with developments in hypnotherapy, neuroscience and psychotherapy, and continually inform my work with clients.

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice. If you have been diagnosed with - or suspect you may have - any of these conditions, please speak to your doctor before starting hypnotherapy.

Additional information

Sessions last for fifty minutes and take place either online via Zoom or at my home in Rugby.

Most people begin with a free, 25-minute clarity call, where we can talk about what has been happening for you and how hypnotherapy might help. This is also an opportunity for you to see whether the approach feels comfortable and right for you.

Therapy sessions are usually weekly for a period of time while the mind and nervous system settle and new patterns begin to develop. Progress is reviewed regularly and therapy continues only for as long as it feels helpful.

Sessions cost £80 on a pay-as-you-go basis, and I offer a modest discount for block bookings of 4, 8 or 12 sessions.

If you’re wondering whether hypnotherapy might help, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I’m always happy to answer questions and help you decide whether this approach feels right for you.

Further information

Solution-focused hypnotherapy focuses on helping people move forward rather than analysing problems in depth. By understanding how the brain responds to stress and learning ways to calm the nervous system, many people begin to feel more balanced, resilient and hopeful about the future.

Hypnosis itself is a very natural state of focused relaxation. You remain aware and in control throughout, and many people describe it as similar to becoming absorbed in a book or daydream.

Clients often say they appreciate an approach that feels both supportive and practical, helping them understand how their mind works while also creating real change.

Choosing a therapist can feel like an important decision. Many people contact me simply to ask a question or explore whether hypnotherapy might help before deciding whether to book.

You are always very welcome to do the same.

At The Coleby Practice, my aim is simple: to offer a calm, thoughtful space where people can regain their balance and begin moving forward again.
