About Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy enables you to take control, in a positive and rational way, of how you think about and respond to situations in your daily life.
It can help you break the habits of negative thinking and behaviours that affect your ability to be happy and cope well. You will then recognise the changes that you want to make. You can then take control of your life again, allowing you to live your life in the way you want to. It is a safe and pleasurable experience that over time encourages your mind to focus on what you want it to.
A beneficial aspect of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is that it can have the effect of lasting a lifetime. This is because you will experience techniques that will enable you to practise deep relaxation and self-hypnosis whenever and wherever you want to.
My passion has always been to help people reach their potential and for them to be happy which is why I chose to train as a teacher when I left school. There is something very rewarding about watching someone develop their skills and achieve what they want. I taught English, to all ages, in Singapore for 4 years. Then I taught in UK Primary Schools, most recently for 17 years at Winchcombe Primary School.
In 2014 I was ready for a change and for a different work life balance so I decided to retrain as a hypnotherapist. Self hypnosis is a technique that I have been familiar with for most of my life, starting when I was a young teenager when my mum had sessions to help her with her anxiety about travelling.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has allowed me to continue with my vocation to help people get the best out of themselves and their lives. Clients may arrive nervous and anxious but quickly realise that with me they are safe and valued. Their smiles return and there is excitement about what their future holds.
What to expect in the treatment sessions
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process between me the therapist, and you the client. It is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.

The initial consultation is designed to assess what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy can help you and how many sessions you are likely to need. You will begin to understand why you think, behave and suffer in the way you do and more importantly what can be done to help you. All clients receive a free relaxation CD or MP3 recording to ensure maximum success.
Subsequent sessions involve much more than hypnosis. During the first part of each session we'll talk about the progress you have made and I'll encourage you to express yourself positively, focusing on solutions rather than dwelling on problems.
I'll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more positive perspective on the quality of your life. I'll then guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.
Hypnotherapy is a combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis. Psychotherapy in itself is extremely helpful and its effects are enhanced by the application of hypnosis, which enables the subconscious mind to make beneficial changes.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Cheltenham and Winchcombe. I trained as a clinical hypnotherapist at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training, a leading teaching college. This training lead to a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (DSFH). I gained my Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) through the National Council of Hypnotherapy.
I have extensive experience working with children and also with people with Asperger Syndrome. I was the PE subject leader at school and still retain the passion and drive to support individuals to achieve their sporting goal using sports performance enhancement techniques.

First session: £35
In the first session you will be able to tell me, in more detail, what you require help with. I will explain how the brain works with regards to anxiety, worry, anger, fears and phobias and you will begin to understand why you think, behave and suffer in the way you do and more importantly what can be done to help you.
This session will take about 30 - 40 minutes.
Subsequent sessions: £70
I use the modern technique of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy which encourages positive thinking by helping you to focus on solutions to your problems, rather than dwelling on the problems themselves. During a session I use guided relaxation and visualisation so you can experience a natural state of deep relaxation. In this deeply relaxed state both the conscious and subconscious minds are focused on the same positive suggestions and visualisations. You will remain conscious and in control throughout the relaxation, however relaxed you become.
The number of sessions that you will need will depend upon the nature of your condition and your own level of commitment and motivation. The treatment of phobias usually requires four sessions, other areas usually require between eight and twelve sessions. Some more deep rooted unwanted thoughts and behaviours will take longer.
Each session will last 50 minutes
As with the learning of all new skills results may vary from person to person. The number of sessions you will need will depend upon the nature of your condition and your own level of commitment and motivation to want to make changes.
Usually weekdays 9:00 - 5:00 (Tuesdays only in Winchcombe) I also work from home so have some flexibility of days and times. Please ask.
