Hi, I’m Heather, a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist. My goal is to help you to create a better, more positive future for yourself. I use Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy to help clients reduce their anxiety and stress. It can also help with problems like low mood as well and those that can be exacerbated or triggered by stress such as poor sleep, phobias and obsessive behaviour.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy uses a combination of psychotherapy techniques and hypnosis, together with the best techniques from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and NLP (Neuro- Linguistic Programming).
How does Solution Focused Hypnotherapy work?
Psychotherapy is a talking therapy; I seek to identify solutions that will help you take constructive steps to achieve the changes you wish to make in your life. It is enhanced by relaxing hypnosis, which is a natural way of harnessing your focused thought. You can think of it as ‘day dreaming’ and clients can often hear what I say to them whilst being in a deep state of relaxation. Many clients have found sessions enjoyable and soothing and view them as an opportunity to unwind.
I will help you to understand how your brain works in relation to your particular issue so that you can use the power of your brain to regain control and balance in your life. This is a key part of therapy and it draws on current, well-researched neuroscience, which I will share with you at each of our sessions, to help you understand why you feel the way you do.
This therapy is positive and forward looking. There is no regression. I do not focus on or involve myself in a why a problem may have developed or on any previous difficult or traumatic experiences you may have experienced. Many clients find this approach helpful and reassuring.
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention. You are not asleep. You will simply feel deeply relaxed.
During our sessions, which will last about 50 minutes, I will guide you into a relaxed trance state where your subconscious mind is more responsive to positive suggestions, which can help you to change unhelpful negative patterns of thinking. Hypnosis is not mind control. Nor is it stage hypnosis. Contrary to popular belief, I cannot make you do things against your will. When you are in trance your subconscious mind can and will reject any suggestions that you do not wish to accept or that are not right for you.
I cannot hypnotise your problems away. You are always in the driving seat of your own therapy journey and any changes that you make can only come about because you wish to make them.
My goal is to work together with you to find solutions enabling you to identify ways to improve your life through small achievable steps.
I am based in West Cheshire but can support you online via Zoom wherever you live.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with the Clifton Practice (CPHT), a recognised centre of excellence for hypnotherapy in the UK. I hold the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy. I also hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD) which is considered to be the gold standard in Hypnotherapy training and is externally accredited.
The National Council for Hypnotherapy holds one of the largest registers of independent Hypnotherapists in the United Kingdom and strives to maintain the highest standards among its members.
There is an agreed Code of Conduct, an established Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure and all members are obliged to maintain comprehensive Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance, maintain regular CPD (continuing professional development) hours, and attend Supervision when needed.
