About me

Hi! My name is Harriet. I am a fully accredited and registered Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist.

I use evidence based tools and techniques to help you raise your self-awareness and get out of your own way to overcome any obstacles or blocks. My goal is to support you into a state of feeling empowered by reclaiming your confidence and becoming sustainably self-sufficient when it comes to your mental well-being.

My practice is centred on being ethical and sustainable. What does that mean?

Client first
The client experience is my top priority. I will ask meaningful questions throughout our work together to ensure we are working in a way that best serves you. If we need to modify techniques, or change tact, we'll do it! Your satisfaction, safety, and well-being is my top priority.

I will always be honest and transparent when it comes to working together. To be ethical, I can only accept clients that have a presenting issue within my sphere of competence. This is to ensure you're seeking help from the appropriate professional.

Evidence led
I chose to obtain an evidence based qualification because I value science and research. The hypnotherapy I practice will not involve lunar phases, tarot cards, crystals or anything else of that nature. There’s nothing wrong with these kinds of practices, and from an experience led perspective, I can appreciate their use. However, they will not be present in our sessions.

Every technique that I use during sessions will have research based support for its efficacy. Where possible, I'll share information packs after sessions to ensure you understands the approach and why it works.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, which specifically focused on evidence based practice. My training also equips me to deliver relaxation, mindfulness, and assertiveness coaching.

Furthermore, I am currently undertaking a Stress Management and Resilience Training diploma.

Prior to training as a hypnotherapist, I graduated with a psychology degree and spent the following 3 years working within the finance technology sector. This lent me first hand experience of understanding how to sustain mental health within a high pressured and fast pace start-up environment.

Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

The General Hypnotherapy Register

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.
