About me

DM Hypnotherapy ‘ONLINE’, Helping You To Manage Your Stress, Outsmart Your Anxious Brain And Skyrocket Your Self-Confidence.

Hi there… I’m David McGee and you’ve probably already gathered that I am a Professional Hypnotherapist.  I help clients of all ages, manage stress, control and eliminate anxiety and boost their self-confidence.

I own and manage DM Hypnotherapy and the main office and clinic, for face-to-face clients, are in Oak Lodge Business Centre (OLBC). OLBC is in the small village of Little Melton, on the outskirts of the city of Norwich (full address details at the foot of this page). There is easy parking for face-to-face clients and a small reception/waiting area should you have a partner, family member or friend accompanying you. I conduct all my Online Sessions from here too.

****** During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic all sessions are online via ZOOM (like Skype only better!) so in the comfort of your own home ******

A little bit about my journey… After a year’s intensive study, I qualified as a Professional Hypnotherapist in 2017 and have seen clients part-time through the back end of 2017 and throughout the whole of 2018. I worked extremely hard to build a well-respected professional reputation to confidently make the leap to working full time at the start of 2019. Through the whole of 2019 I have expanded my services to include Online Sessions seeing clients from across the UK and Europe.

Previously, and for most of my career, I have worked as a Senior Engineering Manager in many local blue-chip companies (including Unilever, Silver Spoon and Anglian Windows). As you could probably imagine I have had more than my fair share of work-related stress and this for me resulted in several bouts of anxiety and extreme loss of self-confidence.

I have also experienced several life changing events including a marriage breakup which, I believe, was the main contributing factor in a severe case of depression throughout my 30’s. In my early 30’s I was medically diagnosed as being clinically depressed and prescribed Fluoxetine (an anti-depressant also known as Prozac). I was on and off antidepressants for 8 long years and at that time my anxiety levels were ‘off-the-chart’. My self-confidence and self-esteem had hit rock-bottom and I was even having regular suicidal thoughts. I couldn’t see any way out or any end to it. I had lost all hope. Then, just before my 40th birthday, I had another event that rocked my world in a very negative way. I was really struggling with who and what I was and what I was becoming. I didn’t like myself at all. A friend suggested that maybe I needed to go and see a ‘Head Doctor’ and that was my turning point. I realised then that something had to change, that it had to be me, and it had to be right then!

I went to see a Hypnotherapist and with her help over a few sessions I was able to fully recover and completely come off anti-depressants. My life had been transformed and the only reason for looking back now is to see how far I’ve come.

Some 10 years later another event torpedoed my life. My employer of 10 years, completely out of the blue, called me into the office and I was told they were ‘letting me go’! There was no reason given but… just like that… overnight… my world changed again. I see this now as a crossroads in my life where I was presented with the opportunity of embarking on the path to becoming a hypnotherapist. I really wanted to start making a difference to people’s lives. I wanted to start making the world a better place by helping people get out of emotional pain and help them positively transform their lives and becoming a Professional Hypnotherapist has enabled me to do just that. All of this seems like a lifetime ago now… and I have come so far in life… and I can genuinely say that working with a Professional Hypnotherapist has completely transformed my life. Now the time is right for me to be able to offer the same opportunity to you. To help you make the positive changes that you want to make to transform your life.

If like me, you have realised that something HAS to change, that it has to be YOU, and it has to be right NOW… then who ya gonna call?  No! Not Ghostbusters… but Norfolk & Norwich’s Premier Hypnotherapist at DM Hypnotherapy.

Smoking Cessation

There are six important steps to you becoming and remaining a non-smoker.

  • You must take full emotional responsibility for you becoming a non-smoker. You must recognise and acknowledge that it is your need and want to become a non-smoker that will lead to success.
  • You might find it helpful to identify all the negative aspects of remaining a smoker and all the positive benefits of becoming a non-smoker.
  • You need to understand beyond any doubt that smoking is primarily a psychological condition and I will help you by explaining this at your Smoking Cessation session.
  • You need to understand that once you have decided that you are a non-smoker you become one with immediate effect. Once you stop, that’s it, you stop… and you are a non-smoker.
  • You no longer need to fear intrusive thoughts now you are a non-smoker and you understand that thoughts cannot harm you.
  • You embrace the joy of now being a non-smoker and you tell everyone how easy it was for you to stop.

Ask yourself… Am I 10/10 ready to become a non-smoker?

If the answer is “Yes!”, please complete the online form below to apply for a short 20min Discovery Call with me for you to convince me you are ready to become a Non-Smoker:

Once we have met and I have a full understanding of the help that you are looking I will be able to advise an appropriate treatment package.

Hypnotherapy will only 'work' for you if you have realised that something HAS to change, that it has to be YOU (it has to be you who wants the change and it has to be you that takes full emotional responsibility for making that change happen), and that the change has to be NOW then I will be prepared to take you on as a client and make you an offer to become a client.

SUCCESS STORIES

Lucy...after her Complimentary Session, said:

"Before attending a Complimentary Session I was in a very desperate, dark place.  I had been under the care of the NHS Wellbeing team since October 2019 but wasn’t getting anywhere and life was becoming more challenging.  I have been trying to manage childhood abuse for over 21 years, and some difficulties in my marriage were stirring up some traumatic memories.  When I saw David, I had just been prescribed anti-depressants and sleeping tablets, as well as already using holistic therapies like aromatherapy and meditation.  I had no specific concerns about attending the session, but I have become very isolated (self-inflicted) and very shy – dreading interaction with people and just leaving the house.

David has an incredibly kind and caring spirit which put me at ease immediately. He asked questions sensitively, and I was able to open up without shame. I found it particularly helpful to have an in depth explanation to how our conscious and sub-conscious minds work, and David explained his aims and plans in a friendly way that made perfect sense to me.

After the Complimentary Session, I felt calm and hopeful – very different to how I felt when I arrived.  We agreed a small amount of “homework” (some meditation) and I found this gave me daily focus.  I have since booked up further sessions with David and I am finding them very helpful.  David gave me a couple of print outs which I have put up in my kitchen, and some tips and tricks to help me manage in between our sessions. I feel very supported by David and have every confidence that he will eventually help me heal my heart."

Sally from Norwich, said:

"I’d suffered with eating disorders for over half my life; anorexia in my teens, and bulimia for the past 18 years. It was destroying my life, and the lives of those around me. I thought that I was broken forever, that there was no other way for me to be, and I couldn’t see a way out. I felt it would be better for everyone if I wasn’t around.

When I met David I immediately felt comfortable with him and that I could be honest with him about how bad things were, without feeling judged. My only concern was that it wouldn’t work for me. I felt like I was too broken to fix and nothing else had worked – hospital admissions, counselling, CBT, medication. I have always struggled to switch off and I couldn’t see that I would be able to relax enough for hypnosis, but the taster session made me feel more optimistic.  David was open and honest from the start that he hadn’t worked with my condition before, but he clearly researched and prepared each session, explaining what we would be doing beforehand, and I looked forward to our appointments. It was very emotional at times, but I felt supported by him throughout the process.  After 4 of our 6 sessions I had a breakthrough, and finally took back control of my life, since that day I’ve been free of the behaviours that had controlled me for so many years.

I can honestly say that working with David has saved my life. I finally feel free to have a future worth looking forward to, my life isn’t controlled by food anymore, I’m at peace with myself both physically and mentally and I feel better now than I have for 25 years. Not only that, but now my children have the mother they deserve, one who isn’t distracted and obsessing over food, but instead can feel happiness, laugh and play with them, and let them know they’re loved.  I can’t thank David enough for what he’s helped me achieve, it’s genuinely transformed my life."
