Have you ever woken up with that feeling of dread, deep in the pit of your stomach. Images of the days activities flashing through your mind, thinking to yourself, this is not going to be a good day.
And at the end of the day, you were proved correct. You had a very bad day.
I'm sure that many people have had experiences like that. Days when you just "knew" that things would turn out to be a complete disaster. However, do you realise just how powerful a skill this is. You make a prediction about the quality of your day, lo and behold it turns out that way. If you can do that, you can also arrange to have a wonderful day.
Imagine for a moment that you "know" you can turn this around and have the best day of your life. Just as you wake up and open your eyes, what do you think you would have to see, hear and feel that would get you thinking, today is going to be the best day of my life.
You may think of a time when you awoke one morning feeling really good about yourself and the day ahead, or imagine what it would take to make you feel that way.
As you juggle with those images, sounds and feelings. Imagine seeing yourself on a large screen. In the theatre of your mind, that part of you where the rehearsals are run. It's your imagination, therefore you can do with it as you wish, there are no rules.
So, think about how you would be feeling on the best day of your life. Allow the good feelings to spread throughout your whole body and imagine the energy from those good feelings flooding into each and every cell. See the images up close, large and colourful, whichever way makes them more and more powerful.
Listen to the sounds that inspire you to feel good about yourself, hear your favourite music, your inner voice telling you how good life can be when you put yourself in the driving seat. Hear your voice encouraging you to accept your daily challenges with a new attitude.
Feel the confidence spread as you see yourself in the theatre, doing what you always wished you could do, smoothly, with a smile on your face.
And as you enjoy the preparation of your mind and body, you begin to think of the day ahead. You run the movie and you are in the lead role. See yourself, relaxed, cool calm and collected. Dealing effectively with the problems of the day. See and hear yourself talking, with confidence. Feel how good it feels when you interact with people, and they respond so positively towards you.
See yourself dealing with the normal challenges of the day, feeling good as you do that and looking at your own behaviour, knowing you have changed. Your attitude is different, your thoughts are much more positive. You actually expect success in the things you do. Your facial expressions are different and your body posture is like that of a person full of confidence, who enjoys life. You are standing tall, upright, head up, breathing deeply from your stomach. You move with a relaxed air of quiet charm.
Remember that how you feel is up to you. What happens to you does not define the way you feel, your feelings are defined by the way you choose to respond.
