About me

I offer Hypno-CBT, which is a combination of hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, to help you with issues such as anxiety, phobias, social confidence, self esteem, emotional processing and motivation.

CBT looks at our thoughts – the way we process information – and our behaviour patterns. It can help us find ways to make positive changes in the way we think and behave. After using CBT to explore the issue and define goals, hypnotherapy can be used to reinforce those new behaviours and ways of thinking.

I often work using ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) which is a type of CBT that works well with hypnotherapy to focus on where you want to go, what might be holding you back, and how to get there!

I can also, with your permission, use IFS (Internal Family Systems).

I offer a free initial 15-20 minute phonecall or online chat (on Zoom or Skype) where we can briefly discuss your issue, and I can answer any questions you might have. We can discuss whether sessions would be conducted face to face or online. We can also get an idea of whether we want to work with each other.

You're under no obligation to go ahead with treatment at this stage, so you can take your time and think about whether to proceed, or alternatively you might want to go ahead and make a booking.

If you want to meet face to face, the location would be at the Wellbeing Rooms in Bearsden or Stepps, Glasgow. Alternatively we could meet online. Sessions last for 55 to 60 minutes. Hypnotherapy may or may not happen in the first session.

For most issues, four to six consultations are sufficient.

Contact me via the links above if you'd like to arrange a free initial phone call.

The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.

In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.

GHR
The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)

Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).

Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.

All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.

Information about health conditions (*)

Hypnotherapy can enhance the well-being of individuals diagnosed with serious medical conditions, but should not take the place of medical treatment and advice.
