About me
About me: Previously to hypnotherapy I trained as an actor so I completely get the anxiety around exam nerves or having to speak at meetings! Those feelings and thoughts of being looked at, watched or judged! (Or Whatever the mind throws at us!). I studied touch therapy and worked with people who had physical disabilities. I came to hypnotherapy as I realised my calm voice and empathy were very helpful and powerful as a starting point. (From a calm perspective the mind is open to possibilities).
My Hypnotherapy diploma gave me the opportunity to volunteer at what was Folkestone Mind. I would use the visualisation of hypnotherapy and NLP techniques to facilitate wellbeing workshops. Then at Touchbase Care facilitating creative visualisation workshops as well as one to one. I had a client at Mind who saw me as a one to one client and she had not been to the dentist for fifteen years, but after a few sessions she successfully had her tooth extracted! I also have a private practise at Inner Calm Hypnotherapy. My offices are at Folkestone/Hythe/Chiswick and online.
How it works
Hypnotherapy is a very relaxed yet focused state. Imagine using mindfulness and focusing on the details in the moment like cleaning your teeth, focusing on all the details of the texture of the toothbrush, the pressure and the feeling of the bristles. Is the minty paste cool on your gums? Or have you picked a different flavour toothpaste? This relaxed focus as you recount the memory of cleaning your teeth is similar to what I use with my client. I start by asking you your most favourite place to relax and I will build this into your personalised script using all the senses. This is a relaxed focused state. So you see you will not be asleep or unconscious, but relaxed enough to allow yourself to be open to the suggestions. I will also ask you your most favourite event (or a place you would love to visit.) A time you did something amazing for someone. Using these your own personal experiences evoke positive feelings and they are then interlaced with suggestions for you to achieve your goals. Some of the techniques I use are story telling, direct suggestion, timeline, self appreciation, NLP triggers, aversion techniques and metaphors. Before your first session I will send you a template of questions asking about your interests, places you like to relax, books or films or leisure you enjoy. Our conversation before I send you this template allows us to decide together if I am the right hypnotherapist for you. You don't have to decide on the spot if you would like to book sessions, but you will know if it feels right. After our first session you may find things seem a little different, more in control on the way forward, or the session has brought up feelings of confidence, or ideas and thoughts about how the situation is to be dealt with.
I offer face to face or online sessions. The face to face sessions are at my office at Physio's R Us in Folkestone on Wednesdays and Fridays and Sunday mornings. I work in London in Chiswick on Thursdays and I am guest hypnotherapist on certain days or times at the Salon by the Sea in Hythe.
I make sure the sessions are very calm, very positive, completely confidential. Your weren't born with this habit, this unwanted belief. It doesn't define who you are.
