About me
I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Skipton, North Yorkshire as well as in Nelson, Lancashire. As a practitioner of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy techniques I can help you to achieve positive changes in your life, whether that is to reduce your anxiety level, improve your confidence, deal with sleep issues or break an undesirable habit.
The type of hypnotherapy I practice is known as Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, meaning that instead of focusing on the problem we focus on the solution and what you want for your future.
Using this approach many clients are surprised by the speed with which significant improvements can often be achieved. Simply by switching your focus to a positive view of how you would like your future to be, your subconscious can become a powerful ally in helping you to achieve this.
You may also be reassured to know that you will not be asked to revisit old problems or relive past trauma. We don't need to get to the “root of the problem” – in reality we sometimes simply don’t know where it all began or the reason why we feel as we do.
“What we focus on we amplify. By focusing on what is wrong we very quickly forget everything that is right in our lives. Fortunately the reverse is also true”.
Hypnotherapy can offer a gentle and natural way to address a wide range of conditions which impact on our quality of life, such as:-
Anxiety, Sleep problems, Anger Management, Low mood, Confidence issues, Lack of motivation, Eating problems, Stress related conditions, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Panic Attacks, Weight Management, Habits and addictions, Phobias
Please do get in touch even if your specific concern is not listed, as hypnotherapy may well still be helpful in addressing your issue.
If you believe you are suffering from a medical condition it is important that you visit your doctor to rule out any other causes for your symptoms.
While Hypnotherapy can be powerful when used to make positive changes in your life, please be aware that it does require input from you too. Hypnotherapy is not something that is done to you, but is rather a collaboration between you and your hypnotherapist. Success is also dependent on your own commitment and willingness to change.
My promise is to match your commitment to help you make the changes you wish to achieve.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained with The Clifton Practice to achieve the Practitioners Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. I am also a registered member of AfSFH, NCH and CNHC.
Member organisations
The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.
In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.
A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) was set up to provide information about a modern form of Hypnotherapy and its associated benefits to members of the public. The main aim of the AfSFH is to spread awareness of the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Its secondary aim is to support Hypnotherapists in their businesses by encouraging good practice and self-care.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Getting Started
The first step is simply to get in touch, either by phone, email, via my website or Facebook Messenger.
We'll agree a time for an initial consultation, where we'll talk through the reason you've got in touch and your hopes for Hypnotherapy. This will also be an opportunity to understand more about Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and how it can help.
If, after this first session, you would like to continue with hypnotherapy we'll agree your first appointment time, the likely frequency of appointments and an estimated duration of treatment to help with your particular issue.
