About me

Hello my name is Chris, welcome to my profile.

I am a qualified Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist and I work from a calm and peaceful location between Keynsham and Queen Charlton which is mid-way between Bristol and Bath. I have over 30 years’ experience of working therapeutically with adults and children/young people in a local authority setting and my practice is based on many years of understanding the difficulties we can face when pressures get on top of us and when we get trapped in unhelpful cycles which reinforce negative behaviours and thought patterns. From both my personal and my professional knowledge I am passionate in my belief that with the appropriate support it is possible to create significant positive change in the areas of our lives that are most important to us, within relatively short timescales.

What is hypnosis?

Contrary to what many people believe, hypnosis is a natural state of mind. Whenever our mind wanders or daydreams, we are in a natural state of trance. In a clinical setting this same state is created through the use of visualisation and relaxation in order to help us to access the problem-solving ‘solution focused’ part of our mind, and so to take on new constructive thoughts ideas and suggestions.

Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy

Combines practical and clinically proven strategies with a scientific understanding of how the brain works. It reduces anxiety very simply by allowing us to focus on the positive aspects of our lives and on the goals we want to achieve. Used on its own, hypnosis a safe and deeply relaxing natural state similar to that achieved in meditation. The combination of Hypnosis and Solution Focused Therapy is clinically proven as a way of helping us to create significant positive change in the areas of our lives that are most important to us, within realistic timescales.

What you can expect from me.

Solution focused hypnotherapy focuses on a persons strengths and resources rather than on problems and deficits and it uses the power of the subconscious mind to help you to regain control over your life in small manageable steps. Whether you are faced with long standing issues relating to anxiety, stress, anger and/or depression; or whether you need help to deal with a specific issue such as passing an exam, getting through an interview or driving test; or want to address areas such as smoking or over-eating, solution focused hypnotherapy can help you to effectively break patterns of unwanted negative behaviour, and to replace them with new, positive and constructive thoughts and actions.

An initial consultation is free of charge. It allows us to get to know one another and it allows you to find out more about my approach and whether or not it is right for you. Assuming you feel it is something which you would find helpful we can then set goals tailored to meet your individual needs. I will help you to understand how the subconscious mind has helped to create the problem you are experiencing and more importantly, how hypnotherapy can help you to regain control over your life. You’ll have plenty of time to ask any questions and  I’ll give you a free relaxation CD to use at home.

I can help with a wide range of areas and some of these include

  • general anxiety conditions
  • treatment of specific fears and phobias
  • treatment of depression/low mood
  • passing exams
  • understanding and managing anger
  • understanding addiction including gambling
