About me

Learn to trust yourself when the outcome matters most

You know you're capable.

But when the pressure is on, whether it's a presentation, an interview, a promotion, a difficult conversation or simply speaking up in a room full of people, self-doubt can suddenly take over.

Your mind races. You overthink every word. You question yourself. You hold back.

It doesn't have to be that way.

I'm Annette Williams, a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, confidence specialist, self-trust expert and former multi award-winning BBC Executive Producer. I help capable professionals overcome anxiety, fears, phobias and self-doubt so they can trust themselves, step into bigger opportunities and perform at their best.

Why work with me?
Because I've spent my entire career helping people perform under pressure.

Before retraining as a hypnotherapist, I spent 38 years at the BBC, producing live television and some of the UK's biggest entertainment and factual programmes.

Behind the cameras, I worked alongside presenters, celebrities, contributors and public figures, supporting them through high-pressure moments when every word mattered and millions of people could be watching.

That experience taught me something invaluable.

The people who appear most confident aren't fearless.

They've simply learnt how to manage their thoughts, calm their nerves and trust themselves.

Now I combine those real-world insights with evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy to help my clients do exactly the same.

How I can help
Many of my clients look confident to everyone else.

They're successful, intelligent, experienced and capable.

Yet privately they worry they're not good enough. They overprepare. They replay conversations. They dread speaking in meetings. They avoid opportunities that could move their career forward because they don't quite believe in themselves.

If that sounds familiar, you're not alone.

I regularly help clients with:

• Public speaking and presentation confidence

• Interview nerves and career progression

• Social anxiety and fear of judgement

• Performance anxiety

• Imposter feelings and self-doubt

• Overthinking and lack of self-belief

• Specific fears and phobias

My approach
I don't believe confidence is something you're born with.

It's a skill that can be learnt.

My work combines Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy with practical performance psychology and a signature coaching approach developed from decades of helping people perform when the stakes are high.

Every session is tailored to you.

No generic scripts.

No one-size-fits-all programme.

Just practical, evidence-based techniques that help you understand what's holding you back, change unhelpful thinking patterns and build genuine, lasting confidence.

What you can expect
Whether we work together online or in person, my aim isn't simply to help you feel better during our sessions.

It's to help you leave behaving differently afterwards.

Speaking up instead of staying quiet.

Backing yourself instead of second-guessing.

Accepting opportunities instead of avoiding them.

Feeling calmer, clearer and more in control when it matters most.

I'm also the author of "Step Into Your Spotlight: The TV Insider's Guide to Feeling Confident When All Eyes Are on You", where I share many of the practical confidence techniques I've developed throughout my career.

Ready to stop holding yourself back?
You only get one life.

Don't let self-doubt decide how much of it you live.

If you're ready to trust yourself a little more, I'd love to help.

Relax. Reset. Go.

Training, qualifications & experience

After a 38-year career as a multi-award-winning BBC Executive Producer, I retrained as a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist. While it may seem like a career change, it felt like a natural progression.

Throughout my television career, I worked behind the scenes helping people perform at their best when the outcome mattered most. From Hollywood A-listers and members of the Royal Family to first-time presenters and everyday contributors, I supported people navigating nerves, self-doubt and high-pressure situations.

Those 38 years gave me a unique insight into how capable people think, feel and perform under pressure. I saw first-hand that the people who appear most confident aren't necessarily fearless. They've learnt how to manage their thoughts, regulate their emotions and trust themselves.

Today, I combine that real-world experience with evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy to help my clients achieve lasting change.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy from the UK College of Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy, am a qualified IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Technique) practitioner  and am a registered member of the General Hypnotherapy Register, working in accordance with its Code of Ethics.

Every client is different, so I tailor my sessions to your individual goals. Whether you're overcoming a specific phobia, preparing for an important interview, managing anxiety or learning to trust yourself in challenging situations, we'll work together to find an approach that works for you.

My work draws on a range of proven techniques, including hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), relaxation, mindfulness and behavioural strategies. My aim isn't simply to help you feel better in the moment. It's to help you create lasting change that you can carry confidently into everyday life.

Some client reviews:

SP says: I used to feel nervous for weeks before presenting at conferences—dreading the build-up and feeling overwhelmed by anxiety. But after working with Annette, everything changed. For the first time ever, I wasn’t shaking. Sure, I felt a little nervous, but it was manageable—not overwhelming. I even managed to inject some humour into my talk and answer questions at the end! The shift was so noticeable that people who had seen me speak before commented on the change.  If you struggle with presentation anxiety, I can’t recommend Annette highly enough!

VN says: What I found reassuring was that Annette explained at every stage why she was asking certain questions and what was going to happen. This was very comforting and made me feel at once in a trusted space. There was never any stress or feeling I had to do or feel a certain way during the sessions but that they evolved naturally. I also appreciated the warmth and genuine care I felt throughout the sessions.

GW says: Best thing I’ve done! Constantly second guessed myself, stressed and ran away from job opportunities through fear and anxiety. From the first session Annette turned this around for me and has changed my life with new confidence, job and outlook on life can’t thank her enough. Well worth the investment in myself!!

BR says: I felt Annette made a positive difference to my mindset very early on. Having tried counselling previously I have never had such a positive and helpful result. I am embracing the new me!!
