Further Details:
The Power of Story is a 1 day workshop (from 10 am to 4.45) exploring how stories, myths and metaphor can shape and change our lives.
We combine theory with practical exercises to help you identify the stories you have lived your life by, to see if those stories still work for you and to help you find ways to affirm those stories or re-frame them. Or alternatively, to enable you to identify fresh stories for life.
We believe that story-telling also needs witnessing, so the workshops are as much about listening to the stories of others and understanding how they inter-connect with our own, as tending/attending to our individual tales.
Be aware that this is not a story-telling workshop. There is obviously the chance to tell your story if you would like but the emphasis is really on how stories lay down blueprints in the unconscious mind, serving as a map that we follow instinctively. It is hoped that the workshop will bring some conscious awareness to this process, giving you more choice and control so that you can write a new 'story for life' to help you make positive changes.
What you get from this workshop ...
- Some time out for youself to be entranced by stories.
- You will be helped to identify the stories (and the deeper meanings contained within them) that might have shaped your life and whether these stories are still appropriate or need updating.
- You will learn how patterns and metaphors within a story act as a template that the brain tries to complete in the real world. We'll explain exactly how this happens.
- If you have repeating themes and patterns in your life our workshop will help you identify the stories that may be contributing to or even causing problematic situations and issues.
- If you are going through changes in your life our workshop will help you come to a better understanding of what those changes might mean and how you can deal with those changes in a healthy way by writing a new 'story for life', in effect, setting up a new 'pattern' to follow.
The workshop costs £65. You will receive a certificate of attendance and comprehensive workshop notes. Full lunch, drinks and refreshments are provided throughout the day. There is free on-site parking.
