Prior to qualifying as a Hypnotherapist, I qualified as a Social Worker and later as a Primary School Teacher. I worked as trainer with C.A.P.P. (child abuse prevention programme) in delivering courses to teachers on bullying, sexual abuse, self-esteem and confidence building issues.
Due to a diagnoses of Multiple Sclerosis, I retired from my job as a Head Teacher of a large Primary School in Donegal and became interested in exploring the complexities of the mind and its power to heal. I trained with the Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in Dublin and have been in private practice since 2009.
I am constantly educating myself in the areas of Hypnotherapy, N.L.P., C.B.T. and Past life Regression Therapy.
To date I have experience in working both with children and adults. My office is designed so that the adult has full view of the child but may not have an audio.
I have worked with people, including young (children) and older (teenagers) suffering from:
- panic attacks
- tourettes syndrome
- various fears/phobias etc.
- as well as weight issues both anorexia and overweight
- public speaking.
- severe anxiety.
- 'childhood' panic attacks.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Hypnotherapy, C.B.T. and am also trained in Past Life Regression Therapy as well as a Masters in Education and a Degree in Social Science.
I use both Suggestion as well as Psychotherapy depending on the client's needs.
As I have several years experience of working with children and young teenagers, this experience is invaluable when I use hypnotherapy with this age group.
Children and young adults benefit greatly from hypnotherapy, especially if they have self-esteem, lack of confidence, victim of bullying, weight issues etc.
Young people in general have a wonderful use of imagination, which I use to effect change.
Parents can stay if the child is initially nervous but experience has taught me that the session is more effective if the parent waits outside, where he/she has full view of their child.
I am happy to speak to any parent concerned about their child and the suitability of hypnotherapy for her/him.
