Training, qualifications & experience

Putting things in context

My work is informed by cutting-edge neuroscience, executive coaching, clinical hypnotherapy, psychology, NLP, EMDR in hypnosis, ego state therapy and other therapeutic protocols that work.

My specialisms present in different ways, depending on the area in which I’m working. Here are some examples of what I do and how I work:

Families and children

  • Adults and children (age 10 - 18 years) - resolving performance anxiety from academic pressure (exams, tests and pre-tests, common entrance, GCSE’s, A-Levels, SATs, and school interviews), bullying, trauma, and life’s circumstances.
  • Parent-led support for children with anxiety under the age of 10.
  • Resolving phobias, postnatal anxiety/panic attacks / PTSD / depression as a result of difficult/traumatic births and anxiety as a result of abuse or grief.
  • Recovery after accident and/or injury, resolving associated anxieties and creating confidence and resilience.
  • Optimising learning strategies to accelerate development, and make spelling and mental arithmetic easy.
  • Reducing or anaesthetising pain as a result of injury or long-term health conditions.
  • Resolving allergies such as hay fever and reactions to dust or animal fur.

I also work with adults and children to relieve anxiety disorders and have specialist training in trauma including PTSD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, GAD, OCD, and Phobias.

Education and learning - children, parents and teachers

What I do translates into happy and healthy children, accelerated learning, enhanced academic performance, improved well-being and mental health.

I am often asked to help with:

  • One to one, and, group interventions with children to resolve performance anxiety from exams, tests and pre-tests, common entrance, GCSE’s, A-Levels, SATs, and school interviews, as well as school issues such as bullying, and other family or life-related circumstances.
  • Talks to:
    • Demystify the nervous systems natural tendencies, and, the mechanism of fear and anxiety.
    • Explain simply what creates anxiety and prevents learning, and what this does to the body and mind.
    • Clarify why logic and interventions such as mindfulness can’t resolve the issues created by the nervous system, and what actually works and why.
    • Show how resolving these issues and putting proactive measures in place improves academic performance, mental health and well-being.
  • Workshops, and training that:
    • Provide practical tools based on learning from neuroscience to proactively prevent anxiety issues, reverse their effects, build confidence and resilience, improve mental health, well-being, and academic performance.
    • Help support children with existing anxiety issues in a healthy way. Explain what confidence and resilience are, and teach how to build and maintain them.
    • Teach age-appropriate vocabulary and exercises, and provide materials around anxiety, confidence, and resilience to create a common language and mechanism for children to share and discuss their experiences with teachers, parents and each other and provide a healthy way of expressing emotions (including anxiety) to prevent issues.
  • Support and supervision groups for teachers and parents to help them facilitate and deal with active problems, address questions about approaches and give feedback.

Elite sports - working with athletes, coaches, sports doctors and physiotherapists.

My experience includes USA Mens Olympic Sevens, RFU England men’s & women’s Rugby Sevens and 15’s, Championships league football, Track and Field, Tennis, and Golf. I'm also a professional skills mentor for the Premiership.

Further information

Here are some of the things my clients have said about me:

Rob - former rugby international

“As a former international player (England Sevens Squad, IRB Sevens World Series, Commonwealth Games and RWC Rugby Sevens) I came across a lot of people who claimed to improve performance. I met Clare at one of the England Sevens training camps and initially steered clear as I thought that all that sort of mind stuff was only for people who had issues. However, witnessing the results of Clare’s work with other senior members of the squad whose opinion I respect, together with her group session on how the mind affects your physical experience, and, your performance, completely changed my mind. I can wholeheartedly say that Clare is the best there is at what she does.  Over the years she has changed my life for the better many times, including in my current career. Her knowledge is extensive and her skill-set is unrivalled. She has this innate ability to hone in on the heart of an issue and change it so it's gone for good. She works fast (and I mean minutes on the touchline fast) and yet is still able to make the experience so straightforward and comfortable it's astonishing. She will change your life for the better, and enable you to achieve things that are far beyond what you ever imagined you were capable of. You are in the best hands with Clare.”

Jillian - working mummy

"It has taken me by surprise just how life-changing Clare's work is. I no longer feel the stomach burning stress and fear that have been part of my day to day life for so long, and have had 3 very successful (non-stressful) significant client presentations this month alone. All this in just two sessions, completely amazing!"

James - Father of three and design director

“Clare came very highly recommended. Her reputation proceeded her and she exceeded all my expectations, delivering life-changing transformation in just three sessions. She is knowledgeable, insightful, and funny and her manner immediately puts you at ease.  She has this uncanny ability to identify the heart of an issue and then simply change it, a true quiet revolutionary. As a result of her help, I have overcome challenges I never thought possible. I am the most relaxed and at ease, I have ever been in my life. I sleep well at night and have boundless energy.  I am more productive than ever before without any of the previous worry, stress or pressure and my business is more profitable and efficient as a direct result. Simply put, Clare will change your life.”

Alison - mother of three and HR Director

"Clare is a pleasure to work with.  A true professional, she will challenge and stretch your thinking well beyond its usual bounds whilst providing whatever support and security you need to make the shift. She has her clients’ welfare and best interests at heart at all times and possesses the skill, courage and conviction to make a stand for you and to guide you through the process as simply, quickly and easily as possible to achieve results.  Those results include happier, motivated people with the clarity, commitment and skill to do what needs to be done.”

Vicki- working mummy

“I have had suffered from hay fever for 30 years and was totally reliant on antihistamines, I could not even go out of the house between May and August without taking medication. Clare made the way the process works easy to understand by using everyday examples that make sense, so I understood how I am doing that or how people do the problem.  She explained that allergies are like phobia’s of the immune system  - my body thought the pollen was a virus or a bacteria and tried to get rid of it with histamine when really it’s actually a mistake and nothing harmful. Then we had a conversation, and Clare asked me some really thought-provoking questions which made me look at things in a different way… I saw connections with things I never did before. She made me think about my hay fever in a completely different way, and, somehow that has made my allergy completely disappear, all in under an hour. I can’t quite believe it! The process was so simple and straightforward and it was fun and enlightening too. In fact, its done far more than make my allergy disappear, it has made me curious about what other changes I can make to my life by thinking about things differently. I definitely recommend Clare. “

Update year on - “I can enjoy smelling the flowers and freshly cut grass now and nothing - not one itch, twitch or sneeze and at this time of year - when usually my hay fever would be at its worst, that is just fantastic. I had a bunch of sneezes about a week or so after I saw Clare, and then, nothing…... In the past, this would have made my nose really congested and made all my symptoms and set me up for a horrible day, but I had nothing, just clear breathing and that was it. Amazing!

Andrew - chartered accountant

“Clare has helped me to overcome significant trauma, and the resulting issues in my life, in the simplest and most straightforward way. I never thought change like this was possible - issues that have haunted me for over 30 years have simply vanished without a trace leaving energy, choice, and freedom in their place. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Helen - teacher

“For 20 years I suffered with a debilitating phobia that encroached on every aspect of my life. I lived in constant fear, always expecting the worst. I was exhausted, I couldn't sleep properly, it was beginning to adversely affect my work, and I was plagued by IBS and eczema. I tried everything, homoeopathy, counselling, coaching, CBT, even a course of cranial therapy but nothing worked. Then, I came to see Clare after she helped a friend’s daughter resolve her exam anxiety. The results were astonishing - my phobia was gone completely, after just one session and now its impossible to understand what I was so afraid of. Another two sessions have resolved my eczema and I have no more symptoms of IBS now either. Not only has Clare removed the phobia completely and the other issues, it also feels impossible to be intimidated in the way I sometimes was before seeing Clare and my confidence has grown exponentially.  She’s a miracle worker!”
