About me
If you landed here, you are probably looking for support with something that feels difficult to change or understand. I want to start by saying that whatever you are experiencing, you are not alone, and I hope you will find the therapist who feels right for you, whether that ends up being me or someone else.
I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist with a BSc in Psychology, and my main focus is on the subconscious patterns behind emotions, reactions, habits, and behaviours that can feel difficult to change. More specifically, the gap between how people want to react and what they automatically end up feeling or doing in the moment.
Although there are different areas I work with that you can explore further below, one of the main focuses in my work is emotional reactivity in relationships, attachment dynamics, overthinking, and emotionally driven patterns that can affect connection with others.
Many people logically understand their behaviour, yet still find themselves repeating the same emotional patterns, overthinking conversations, reacting more strongly than they intended, struggling with anxiety, or feeling stuck in habits they really want to change.
Why we react the way we do
As humans, we are emotional beings, yet we try to solve most of our problems with logic alone and then feel surprised when it doesn’t work. The brain learns from past experiences and creates shortcuts to help us cope. However, what worked in the past is not always helpful in the present, yet the mind can continue using those automatic patterns by default.
This can show up in many ways, such as habits that feel hard to change, anxiety that appears without a clear reason, or reactions that seem stronger than the situation itself. These patterns often operate on a subconscious level, which is the area hypnotherapy is used for.
The application of hypnotherapy
Let’s say you come to me because you struggle with jealousy in relationships. Many times, the problem is not simply the jealousy itself, but what is driving it underneath. It can come from insecurity, fear of rejection, or maybe even low self-worth. If you are constantly afraid that you are not enough, your mind can start interpreting situations through that fear. Your partner was late, so they must be cheating, etc.
Instead of targeting jealousy directly, we work with the underlying emotional patterns behind it. If the root is low self-worth, then we work on strengthening that, so the jealousy itself loses intensity as well. Then you start seeing situations more as they are, instead of through a lens blurred by fear.
The same idea applies to habit change too. For example, if you struggle to stop smoking, craving a cigarette is usually not just about nicotine itself. The associations built around it often play a huge part. Smoking might be connected to stress relief, taking a break, drinking alcohol, social situations, or even a feeling of comfort and familiarity. For example, if every time you drink coffee you also smoke, eventually the brain starts linking the two together automatically. So instead of only fighting the craving itself, we also work with the subconscious associations behind the habit.
The goal is not to “fight” the reaction itself, but to work with the subconscious patterns driving it underneath. Every person is different, which is why sessions are tailored to the individual rather than following a rigid one size fits all approach.
Getting started
If you have questions or feel curious whether hypnotherapy is right for you, you are welcome to book a free consultation through my website or contact me by phone. We can simply have a conversation from the comfort of your home and explore whether this approach feels like a good fit for you.
