About me

Hello, my name is Antonia. I am a qualified hypnotherapist and I would love the opportunity to show you what a powerful tool hypnotherapy can be.  I have experience helping people experiencing stress and anxiety, wanting to manage their weight and helping people become non-smokers as well as other issues such as sleep and self-confidence.

Are you finding it challenging to make changes, whether it is stopping a habit or gaining a skill? This is because your conscious mind tells you change is bad and scary! 
Through hypnosis we can talk directly to the subconscious and rewrite this message. Change can become exciting and something to be looked for.
It’s never too late to alter the way your brain works, remove the negative biases and change the narratives you’ve learnt about yourself, building confidence and self belief in the process.

I offer a free discovery call of around 20 mins to discuss how I can help you. This is followed by an initial consultation of 45 mins to an hour, as are regular consultations. My fee is £85 a session unless it is to quit smoking, in which case there is an initial consultation followed by a single 2 hour session or two 1 hour sessions. As I work from a number of different locations, all bookings are made with me either on the phone or at the end of a session.

I came to hypnotherapy via a somewhat circuitous route, including archaeological conservation and primary teaching. So why hypnotherapy? I was as sceptical as many of you when I started my course, I thought I wanted to be a counsellor. It did not take long for me to see the possibility for change that hypnotherapy offers. 

As a woman, I have grown up comparing myself to others: 

  • Am I too fat?
  • Am I doing enough?
  • How could I be doing better?
  • Why am I not doing as well as X?

The comparison culture we are exposed to every day is designed to make us feel lacking, so that we buy the latest gadget, the latest diet, the latest thing designed to make us feel good.

Thinking about yourself and your needs makes you selfish doesn't it? Would you expect a car with no petrol to get you to your destination? What a ridiculous question, you might say, but this is what we do every day, give to others when we have no reserves ourselves. The fuller the tank, the more you have to give. Self-care is actually the best investment you can make for you and those around you. If you are worn out you are likely to suffer from anxiety and stress as well as being tempted to smoke or develop unhealthily eating habits to try and find some form of enjoyment or control in your life.

So how can hypnotherapy help you break the spiral?

By talking directly to the subconscious suggestions can be used to change your underlying beliefs and develop healthy proactive ways of dealing with stress and anxiety, as well as finding the will power to change your attitude to food or smoking. I am living proof that you can change the habits of a lifetime. I have been someone who would eat when they're happy, sad, bored, tired, angry, stressed, because it's there, any excuse. By changing my inner dialogue I have considerably reduced my snacking and now make a conscious choice about what I eat. It still baffles me when I realise I didn't have that snack I thought I wanted so badly, but completely forgot about.

Further information

If you have accessibility requirements, or even if you don't, we can work online. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be equally as effective online as in person and saves you leaving the comfort of your own home. All you need is a computer with internet access, a webcam and speakers.
