It is sometimes difficult to be the person you truly want to be. It is a very true saying that we are the sum of our experiences - so if you have spent your life being pushed and pulled about by people in your life (overbearing parents or siblings, friends/ bullies, life partners, work colleagues) it is likely that you are not the person you truly want to be.
