Hypnotherapy: social media and device addiction

Are you becoming vague, fatigued, unfocused, irritable, forgetful, lonely, or having a short attention span?

These are just a few of the effects of overuse of your phones, devices and social media sites. We are living in a technologically driven world, and people seem to be less engaged with "the real world" as we knew it before these devices took over our lives.

We have become more stressed out, less engaged, walking around banging into furniture, bumping into people in the street, dangerously crossing roads without looking, burning the dinner, being late for appointments, forgetting to play with our babies, and losing control of everyday responsibilities.

What's happening to my body?

Physically, there are symptoms developing; tightness in the chest, headaches, blurred vision, sleep disorder, anxiety, tingling in the fingers, RSI, tinnitus, mental confusion, depression.

Information overload!

It's simply wonderful to have so much information at our fingertips. We don't have to wait a minute to recall the name of a famous actor or search for a place to visit, a book to read, a movie to see, shopping online, arranging travel, restaurants, following famous people, staying in touch with old friends, watching things on YouTube, fitness programmes bringing the gym right into your living room... it's there with just the use of a keyword! Wow...

...and not Wow.

Our neural pathways and synapses are firing off differently now. Once upon a time, we had to remember, recall, calculate numbers, memorise text, pay attention to where you are without a guidance system. Instead, our brains are getting lazy - why be concerned when we have instant answers and solutions from the world wide web?

So what happens to us when we are no longer exercising our brains? What happens to our body and emotions when impacted by artificial sensations? Where does the time go when we are sitting passively scrolling through endless feeds on Facebook? How does the addiction affect our relationships?

Disconnection. Isolation. The world is shrinking.

We are in a human world where everything has sped up and has shrunk down. We are now plugged into a huge global nervous system that unites and divides us. For better or worse we are advancing our collective consciousness and declining into mental, emotional and physical health disorders.

What to do and how hypnotherapy can help.

If you are one of the people who have a modicum of control then you will know that abstinence for periods of time from social media and leaving your device at home when you know nothing is urgent is a good and beneficial thing. But if you are one of the 99% of people who are continually checking and rechecking your device, spending vast amounts of time on it and experiencing the mental, emotional and physical health problems from this addiction then it's time to seek help from a professional.

Hypnotherapy can help you get your life back. In a nutshell, after a few sessions you will be in control and enjoying a balanced life with and without your devices. Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) can assist in clearing the addictive associative behaviours and increasing the healthy return of focus and connection. You will see an increase in your energy and health, sharper mental clarity and focus, better sleep patterns, happier relationships, and more productivity.

If you or people close to you are in need of help, don't be afraid to do something about it. Life is a school; this is just another way of educating yourself back into the life that offers you much more than what any device can bring.

You can take back control and enjoy the best that technology offers through the web and social networking, and have a fulfilling life as well.
