What is a hypnotherapist?
Do we swing watches at people? Can you be made to do things against your will? All valid questions and I’m sure you can think of many more.
I think most people are agreed that a Hypnotherapist can help you relax.
But then what happens?
You relax to the point where your subconscious can be asked to change views or perceptions that have been held for a long time.
Suggestions can be made, small tweaks that can make a huge difference to you ‘the client’s’ life.
What does it feel like?
In answer to that question, it is different for everyone. Probably the best way to describe it is trancelike. What is a trance? Well we all go into a trance like state on a regular basis. When you have been absorbed in reading a book, you can find that you have not taken in the last few pages because your mind has been elsewhere. Or when you have driven home, only to find you have arrived, but have been making a mental list of jobs to do when you get there. The conscious mind will drive, whilst the unconscious mind makes a list!
Never underestimate the power of the mind. I’m sure that we don’t use anything like the powers we have available to us. Think what we would be able to achieve if we did!
Our brains do not hear the negatives and so we need to train ourselves to speak to ourselves in a more positive way!
While we are on the subject of talking to ourselves, tell your negative self to shut up!
You are not useless for losing your keys, just a bit forgetful.
You are not rubbish for forgetting that appointment, you just need to be more organised!
We tell ourselves off for the littlest thing, and we almost never praise ourselves. We never say, "Well done!", "You handled that situation well" or "you have worked really hard at your weight loss". You deserve to do well.
Here are some examples of the way we should talk to ourselves. Always in the positive.
Be kinder to yourself! If all else fails and you are not having a good day, try to make someone else’s! Compliment a friend, or do a favour you have been meaning to do. Each new day is a gift, we must not waste it!
Hypnotherapy can be used to train the unconscious mind not to be scared of needles, spiders, dogs, flying, the list goes on.
Hypnotherapy can also be used to change ingrained habits. This can help with weight loss, smoking, anger and anxiety to name but a few.
You have to want these changes. You have to put the work in. There is no a magic wand. But over time, hypnotherapy can be used to ingrain new habits. Hypnotherapy is a great tool that can help you achieve any or all of your goals.

Are you willing to work to achieve it? (You may have to work really hard!)
Are you even being realistic about what you can achieve? These are the big questions. You have to take time to think about them.
No point in climbing the wrong ladder! Or even the right ladder, against the wrong wall (the late great Stephen Covey).
Are you ever going to be a super model or a brain surgeon (have you really understood this?).
Do you know your limitations? Are your expectations too high?
Or do you just expect achievements to be handed over on a plate? (Nothing is ever that easy!)

Have you done all you can, with a relationship, a job, and a way of life? Do you need a new direction?
Do you need a new challenge? (Are you too scared?)
Do you need more confidence?
Do you feel you need a new hobby?
Do you need to make some new friends?
All big questions, all taking a lot of thought!
