A New Year, a new you!

As January 1st is approaching us fast, we start thinking about the year ahead. New Year’s resolutions are on most people’s minds and there may be something that you would like to change.

These days our resolutions tend to focus around our health; losing weight, quitting smoking, drinking less, eating healthily or joining the gym. It’s also becoming important for a lot of people to find a good balance in their lives - getting outdoors more, cutting down on technology, meditating and practising yoga. These goals are realistic and manageable, and we know if we achieve even one of these goals it would make us feel a lot better.

So why does 78% of the UK population give up on their goals or fail within the first couple of months? If you are one of these people then rest assured, there are simple methods that can improve your changes of sticking to your New Year resolutions.

As a starting point it is useful to consider two common reasons behind the failure to achieve goals;

  • A fear of failing.

  • Lack of motivation to work towards the goals.

Hypnotherapy can be an extremely effective tool, helping you to make the desired changes. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, which is where we hold all of our habits, addictions, behaviours and beliefs. By working with the subconscious, hypnosis can help to reframe certain behaviours and beliefs in order for you to become more focused and in control as well as improving your willpower and confidence.

Top ten tips to help you stay on track;

1. Set realistic goals.

2. Plan and prepare well in advance.

3. Make sure you really want to make the change, and you are not just doing it for someone else.

4. Don’t rush, it’s not a race.

5. Don’t repeat the past.

6. Make sure you have the right support around you.

7. Tick off your achievements.

8. Reward yourself.

9. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

10. Enjoy the journey!

Here’s to a successful New Year!
