About me

I specialise in treating self-esteem issues, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, exam nerves, blushing, stress and habits in adults and children. I am also particularly interested in relationship issues and increasing motivation.

Call or email me now to discuss whether hypnotherapy is right for you or your child.

I combine hypnotherapy with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques in order to offer you or your child a thorough and well-rounded approach to therapy. CBT is a mode of therapy that focuses on changing negative thought patterns in order to eliminate unwanted behaviours.

This natural and effective combination therefore allows your issue to be addressed at the unconscious level, identifying and solving the cause and so reliving the symptoms; whilst at the same time enabling you to adjust your conscious thought patterns and resulting behaviours. This combination allows me to treat a vast range of issues in anyone aged 5 and over. I am also able to treat individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and a range cognitive disabilities.

I provide a friendly, caring, confidential service in a relaxed environment to help you overcome the issues that are standing in your way. I can help you or your child get rid of negative emotions, behaviours, habits and thought patterns in a gentle, enjoyable and long-lasting way.

Training, qualifications & experience

Background

After gaining by degree in Psychology I spent many years working in the field of child development supporting children with special needs (mild to severe) in a variety of settings. From there I went on to train in Hypnotherapy (and counselling) as a way to help both children and adults.

I came across hypnotherapy by accident whilst studying for my diploma in counselling and like many people I was somewhat skeptical. I very quickly realised however that it can be remarkably effective way of treating issues such as low self-esteem, anxiety and stress.

Before I discovered hypnotherapy I suffered with all three of these problems. Throughout my training I received hypnotherapy myself and I was genuinely amazed at the difference it made to how I felt and how quickly the change happened. So much so that I decided I wanted to specialise in these areas in order to help others the way I had been helped.

Hypnotherapy for Children

It is frequently very difficult for children to put what they are experiencing into words as they often don't have the experience, confidence or vocabulary to do so. Hypnotherapy is an ideal way of helping children because they can be treated without the need to extensively talk through what they are going through unless they want to.

Children are often much easier patients than adults because their minds are far more open and accepting of new experiences. They have far more active and vivid imaginations which they use every day to help them learn about the world. This means they generally find the visualisation involved in hypnotherapy very easy and enjoyable. Also, their minds have not been conditioned in the same way as adults, that is they do not think about reacting in a way that others find acceptable.

As adults we have been reacting and behaving in ways that fit with our belief system about ourselves and the world for many years. These behaviours have therefore become a part of us. For children these belief systems (both positive and negative) and thier resulting behaviours are still forming. It is therefore far easier to change negative or unhelpful beliefs. As a result positive changes occur far more quickly when working with children.

I offer a free initial consultation for children in order to completely put your mind at ease and ensure both you and your child feel happy to commence therapy.
