Michelle specialises in the management of primary hypertension, stress and anxiety related conditions, which include Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) ME /CFS and Fibromyalgia.
Hypnotherapy, combined with mindfulness and particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - Hypnotherapy, is an effective treatment for anxiety, stress, social anxiety and panic attacks.
The British Medical Journal currently recommends Applied Relaxation and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as the two most effective therapies for anxiety. Combining these two therapies with hypnosis creates an effective treatment approach.
In February 2008 the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), who give guidance to the NHS on effective treatments, published information for GPs and consultants, demonstrating that hypnotherapy was an effective IBS treatment and that it could be recommended for IBS sufferers.
In 2011 Michelle developed and tested the Hi5 protocol. An intensive pattern breaking intervention that helps people change the way their body and mind deal with IBS CFS Fibromyalgia and associated conditions. It is programmed over 3 days on a one to one basis and is as unique as you are, it can be modified to accommodate your needs to a certain degree, but is by necessity intensive.
In 2012 Michelle started to specialise in treating primary hypertension, helping to manage primary high blood pressure due to its links with weight and lifestyle change. Michelle is happy to give talks and address groups on any Hypnotherapy based subject.
December 2014 saw additional advancement in Michelle's own personal life which has informed her practice and included studies in Nutrition and Exercise.
Traditional practice in Psychotherapy studied in 2016/17 Bridging the worlds.
Continuous Professional Development is important for both the therapist advancement and the clients safety and ensures current health care developments are updated regularly.
I work late one evening a week, this is variable but is often on a Friday.
