Pauline Brumwell MNCS UKCP and GHR Reg
I am a Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, located in the centre of Harrogate.
I am trained and experienced in Traumatic Incident Reduction, and Brainspotting, an approach that has recently emerged from EMDR therapy.
I have worked as a therapist for more than 30 years, and have particular experience in working with trauma recovery and issues arising from childhood abuse and neglect.
I also work with stress and anger management; and difficulties with self confidence and self esteem.
Many people find that hypnotherapy is a great way of helping with relaxation and stress reduction and works very well alongside other approaches in tackling these kinds of issues.
I am the author of two home audio hypnosis books: 'Powerful Home Hypnosis for Relaxation, Confidence, And Stress Reduction'; and 'Powerful Home Hypnosis for A Smoke-Free You'; Both of these are available as digital downloads from Amazon, Audible and iTunes.
If you would like to discuss more about how I can help with your particular issue, please email. Or, if you prefer, I am very happy to arrange a telephone call at a mutually convenient time.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist. My qualifications are as follows:
Diploma in Counselling (Metanoia Institute)
Diploma in Supervision (Institute for Person-Centred Learning)
Diploma in Hypnotherapy (Academy of Advanced Changework)
I belong to the following Professional Bodies:
UK Council for Psychotherapy (Registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor)
National Counselling Society (Accredited Member)
General Hypnotherapy Register (Registered Hypnotherapist)
I am trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction and Brainspotting.
I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.
The General Hypnotherapy Register
Hypnotherapists may become members of the General Hypnotherapy Register if they satisfy certain criteria with regard to both training and ongoing requirements as determined from time to time by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC).
Members are either registered at Practitioner status (which confirms that the GHR acknowledges their qualification to practice), or Affiliate status. Although Affiliate level registrants will have completed a sufficient number of training hours to equip them to commence seeing clients on a limited basis, the GHR does not acknowledge them to have yet been trained to full practitioner level.
All GHR Registered Practitioners are required to accept the published Code of Ethics and Complaints & Disciplinary Procedure.
Areas of hypnotherapy I deal with
If you have been diagnosed or suspect you may have one of the medical conditions starred above, you should consult your GP for advice, diagnosis and treatment and always inform your health professional before starting any alternative or additional therapies or treatments.
Other areas of hypnotherapy I deal with
Post Traumatic Stress
Childhood abuse (physical, emotional and/or sexual) and neglect
I charge £50 for daytime appointments and, when evening appointments are available, £60 for evening appointments from 5pm.
I understand that finances are tight for many people in the current economic climate and am happy to discuss ways of spreading payments if this would be helpful for you.
I find hypnotherapy highly effective in enhancing relaxation, reducing anxiety and stress and increasing self-esteem and motivation.
I am delighted that recordings of some of my hypnotherapy scripts are now on general release and available for download via Amazon, Audible and iTunes.
In person, individualised sessions of hypnosis can also be a very useful way of finding new solutions to specific problems, even if those problems have been bothering you for some time.
Hypnotherapy for a specific, here-and-now problem generally only takes a few sessions.
However, if issues are more deep-rooted, or if you have suffered serious or ongoing neglect, separation or abuse in childhood; or long term abuse, multiple traumas or bereavements at any stage of life, the longer term psychotherapeutic counselling I offer would, almost certainly, be more helpful.
