Jan Dannenburg (MBSCH, SQHP)
I am a qualified Senior Clinical Hypnotherapist (SQHP) with the GHR and Practitioner with the BSCH and have worked for over 16 years helping people to create the changes within themselves to allow them to move on with their lives. I originally come from New Zealand and I have a practical down to earth attitude to life. As a Senior Qualified Hypnotherapy Practitioner I enjoy supporting patients to identify and achieve their goals as well as simply supporting patients to create change within themselves. I run a busy Clinical Hypnotherapy Practice in Orpington, Kent. I am very close to the M25 and it is easy to get to by car, bus or train.
I use Hypnotherapy as part of the therapy process but it is therapy first, hypnosis second. What I like about Hypnotherapy is how it can re enable patients to put themselves back in the driving seat of their lives and to feel in control. Sometimes circumstances within our lives are not under our control but how we respond to them can be and that's how I can support and help. I discovered Hypnosis as a methodology of helping myself resolve outstanding issues and I fell in love with it as a therapy so I retrained into being a Clinical Hypnotherapist to support others.
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation before booking if required to discuss how hypnotherapy can be of benefit to them and empower them to make changes. Also if I don't feel I am the right therapist or that hypnotherapy may not be the most supportive route for you at this time I will say so and refer you on to someone else who may be better suited to your needs.
Finding yourself free of what holds you back whether it be childhood issues, anxiety, addictions, weight-loss, insecurities, fears , wanting to quit smoking , stress, alcohol abuse , exam nerves or emotional challenges allows you to be more engaged in this time and space and within your life. Finding yourself free from really annoying habits such as Smoking or having one too many bottles of wine a night can allow you to feel far more in control of your life.
That's what I endeavor to help my patients do. I don't get it right every time (no one does) and I don't always have a magic wand to make all your issues completely disappear over one session but I can honestly say that I will give you 100% of my abilities and skills to work with you to resolve your challenges. If a problem has been weighing you down for a long time then it is fair to say it may take several sessions to notice changes. I recommend to my patients that they allow for 3 sessions firstly to see how they like it and how they progress and plan for 6 sessions as a basis to change.
If you would like to discuss how Hypnotherapy may be beneficial in resolving your issues then please give me a ring and we can chat or email me. If you like the sound of me great we can book and work together and if you don't that's fine too it is important that you find the right therapist for you . You can also email me and I will contact you as soon as possible.
I work Tuesday - Friday with appointments from 8am to final appointment at 7pm. Other times may be available upon request.
Please note : If you call and get the answering machine please do leave a message with a suitable number / time and I will call you back. My phones are obviously turned off while I work for my patients comfort. If you are emailing me I will reply but again I may be working so it may not be immediately.

Burn Out - People who just feel they are totally overloaded and burned out by working in a highly stressful enviroment - been there, seen it and I even got the T shirt ! Refocusing and thinking about things in a different way can be very benefical for some and allow your mojo to return.
Executive Coaching - Looking to change companies? Facing interviews etc or taking a step up the Corporate ladder and need support dealing with it all in an empowering way ? A few sessions can help you to be dealing with everything in a positive way.
£80 per session - I only charge per session NOT per hour. For the first session I allow 2 hours and thereafter I aim to work to a 1 hour session BUT if we need extra time I allow 1 1/2 hours per session as I prefer not to be clock watching as it can be distracting.
£180 to Stop Smoking (I used to smoke - 40 a day! they were desperate times and I really can remember lighting one cigarette with the remnants of the one I was just finishing!) If your smoking a packet a day its costing you over £2500 a year to keep on damaging your health.
Payment is accepted via cash, card (not Amex or Diners) and you can also make payment via online banking.
Q: Why aren't you practicing up in Harley St and should I go there for better treatment ?
I am able to work in Harley St and other London locations but I choose not to. The extra costs that come from renting a room up in London are passed on to the patient and I would rather work in an environment I have almost full control over ( I can ensure it is warm and quiet except for outside traffic noise) but in a clinic I am dependant on others around being respectful and this doesn't always happen.
Q: Why do I not show an NHS number on my website ?
I do not show an NHS number on my website as we are not allowed to. The NHS number only means that you are registered to supply a service to the NHS and is given to all suppliers from Plumbers to Doctors. The number is not allowed to be shown on our websites as it implies we are authorised by the NHS and this is not the case.
Q: Why are you not on the NHS Complementary website?
Again this is not part of the NHS this is a seperate company that own the name but could imply that I am authorised by the NHS which is not the case.
Q:Are there Hypnotherapists who are in the NHS?
Yes there are and they will be Psychologists or Psychiatrists or other authorised Practitioners who are also trained Clinical Hypnotherapists. In general though your GP probably wont refer you directly to a Hypnotherapist and this type of therapy is normally accessed privately.
Q:Why dont you answer the phone or my email immediately ?
I do attempt to reply to queries or messages or as soon as possible but of course if I am with patients I need to give them my undivided attention so all phones and emails are turned off during sessions. Also if it is a Sunday or the evening I maybe otherwise engaged with my family. I will reply or return your call asap.
Q: Can you change my daughters/sons behaviour or can you change mine ?
I have had parents emailing me to see if I can see thier "difficult teenager" and "make them behave". With the best will in the world all I can do is meet with the person concerned and see if I can alliviate whatever their issues are. A counsellor specialising in teenager issues maybe a better option for some people and I cannot and would never "make" anyone do anything they did not actually want to do. There are other behaviours like Smoking and Panic Attacks etc which are a different scenario altogether and hypnotherapy can be benifical in thier resolution.
I work Tuesday - Friday 8am - 7pm being the last appointment although other times maybe available. Please email or call to discuss suitable appointment times and availability further
