About me

I am now offering face to face, online or phone sessions

I began working as a Hypnotherapist over 25 years ago. I began with my own Analysis. Resolving my own inner turmoil at the time. Along with my Degree in Psychology I found a deepening interest in the role the subconscious plays in psychological and physical symptoms. My many years of experience have helped other people live their lives with increased happiness and have helped them fulfil their dreams. At times my clients have discovered their physical symptoms have a Psychological root and problems such as unexplained back pain has shifted, and even fibromyalgia has eased. I believe that the Mind, Body and Spirit work together and the use of Hypnosis allows people to work at all 3 levels.

  • What can Hypnotherapy treat?
  • Low self esteem
    Sleeplessness
    Anxiety
    Phobias
    Feeling down
    Symptoms of stress
    Addictions
    Lack in motivation
    Fears
    Relationships problems
    Birth Trauma and Hypnobirthing
    Panic attacks
    Stress release
Help with worries and fears for diabetics, Type 1 and Type 2
    Unable to lose weight
Have you suffered childhood abuse (sexual, physical, emotional) and feel it is still affecting your self esteem?
Have you suffered traumatic stress and seem unable to put it behind you?
Analytical Hypnotherapy could help you to make positive changes in your life. It is a safe and natural form of therapy that can guide you to understand the causes of your symptoms and thus release them permanently.

I assist my clients to use the power of the subconscious to change ingrained beliefs that are holding them back. Wherever there is a symptom there is a cause. Analytical Hypnotherapy can get to the root cause of a problem enabling the mind to "re-think" what it is doing. Changing beliefs from negative to positive.

I pride myself in my extensive training and experience, which enables me to use the right tools for each individual client. Confidentiality is assured throughout Therapy.

I have been practising in Clacton, London and Woodbridge for over 25 years, and am now based in Manningtree on the Essex/ Suffolk border.

I am a member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Why choose Analytical Hypnotherapy?
Analytical Hypnotherapy employs psychoanalytical techniques to unearth childhood difficulties and psychic conflict. It is based on the idea that we all have come from our past, and the subconscious mind operates through past learnt beliefs, ideas, and effects. Through unravelling these, the subconscious can rethink what it learnt during formative years. This can have profound effects on your symptoms in the here and now. Positive ideas can then take permanent root.

Different from Counselling? Well yes. With Counselling people can often talk logically around their problem for years. The Subconscious works differently from the Conscious mind. It interacts with your world each moment of your day. It can trigger emotions from your childhood in the here and now. Have you ever felt like a 6-year-old at the Christmas party? or maybe you overreact and do not understand what is happening? or maybe your relationship feels unbalanced?

Will I have to open up to my Therapist about painful experiences? If you wish to move forward more quickly, then yes this will help. However, you must be in a safe and comfortable place to do this. Make sure you feel comfortable talking to your Therapist before you book in. Phone and have all your queries answered.

This Analytical approach, with the use of Hypnosis as a tool, is one way that Anne Bryson differentiates herself from the crowd. Providing effective, and long-lasting changes to an individual's life.

Have you suffered childhood sexual, physical or emotional abuse ?

Traumas and adversities in childhood may leave scars that last into adulthood and put a person at risk of a variety of difficulties. This can include increased stress, relationship problems, sexual problems, anxiety, depression, flashbacks and phobias (see list below). All of these can result in a lack of confidence and the inability to fulfil your potential. Sexual abuse can damage a person's ability to build close relationships and leave a feeling of being "different" or "mad". Covid Lockdown rules may be exagerating feelings of loneliness and isolation. Self-blame can result in self-sabotage, addictions, eating disorders, self-hatred. Much of this is unseen. Sometimes people have never talked to anyone about their suffering at the hands of family members or strangers. Working through all aspects of your trauma in a safe, caring environment is the key to being able to break free of the shackles childhood abuse can create.

For many people, it may be important to come to terms with past traumatic events in order to feel happier and fulfilled in their lives. Being told to "pull your socks up. It happened a long time ago" only makes the symptoms worse. Survivors of abuse can gain relief from their internal struggles using Hypnosis and Inner Child Therapy. You no longer have to suffer alone.

I pride myself in providing a safe, empathic environment in which to work through these issues at whatever pace suits you. Every session is confidential.

Research has now shown the workings of the brain and nervous system during traumatic incidents. This can take it's toll on your mind and body. Talking about your experiences can be the start to making strides towards healing the effects of physical, emotional or sexual abuse in childhood. Inner Child Therapy can resolve the conflict these experiences can cause. Clients who have suffered severe child abuse, being abused and trafficked by family members and abused by more than one person may have also have added issues to deal with. The subconscious mind is powerful in giving us tools to survive the abuse. These tactics your mind uses to survive childhood adversity can hold people back later on in life, however they are crucial to human survival.

Here are some symptoms you maybe suffering:

-Dissociation, or feeling detached, confused. In severe cases you may feel there is a constant struggle going on in your mind, holding you back and feeling trapped.

-Troubles with trusting other people, either too much or too little.

-Difficulties establishing boundaries in relationships.

-Flashbacks, nightmares, sleeplessness.

-Feeling the need to self-medicate, with drugs, alcohol, compulsions, cigarettes.

-Low self esteem, isolation, loneliness. Fear of intimacy with partners.

-Sexual dysfunction, or a lack of interest/pleasure in sex, or promiscuity.

-Panic attacks, fears, worry, specific phobias.

-Constant grief because of the loss of innocence, childhood, normal relationships as a child, and trust. Maybe your tears seem to come from nowhere or are triggered by certain events.

-Physical Effects may include unexplained back pain, tension in muscles and tendons, joint pain, asthma, breathing difficulties, digestive problems, unexplained headaches, inability to relax your body, a painful "holding on" experience in your body. Even having pain whilst doing normal activities like walking can be related to childhood issues.

-Eating disorders, being overweight, difficult relationship with your body.

-Repeated patterns of abusive relationships.

There are many more after-effects of childhood abuse that adults may experience. If you are having difficulties and think they may be related to childhood abuse phone and find out how Hypnotherapy can help. Speaking to your Therapist before beginning the process of Therapy is crucial, especially if severe trauma has occurred, so you feel comfortable and safe working with them.

Further information

Analytical Hypnotherapy aims to get to the root of emotional problems, thus allowing your mind to rethink and readjust to new information. It works on a deep  subconscious level, and is based on the idea that the negative beliefs people have learnt in their lives have to be changed before more positive ideas will take root.

The first session involves a discussion about the process and what you can expect during sessions. Allowing your subconscious to begin to place the bits of puzzle together. You will also experience the time and space to focus on what you want to achieve in Therapy. It will involve an experience of Hypnosis.

I usually book from session to session, and this can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or at the correct pace for your lifestyle.

Please phone or email to have a chat and have your queries answered.
