About me

My name is Rita Smith, and I am a  Gastric Band Hypnoband Practitioner, a full-time Advanced Professional Hypnotherapist and Pure -Hypnoanalyst and a Thrive Practitoner.

There are two main types of hypnotherapy: suggestion therapy, and analytical hypnotherapy (sometimes called hypnoanalysis). Suggestion therapy is ideal for: stopping smoking, exam nerves, fear of flying, weight loss sleep disorders, blushing etc.  Depending on your thinking it normally takes 1 or 2 sessions.

Hypnoanalysis, is a very short course of psychotherapy used in conjunction with hypnosis and takes about 8 sessions. It has amazing results helping people with anxiety, depression, phobias and fears, weight issues, sexual problems, IBS, obsessions and much more.

I can also help people with a programme called the Thrive Programme/Changing Limiting Beliefs which is a 4 - 6 session talking therapy. This is superb for weight loss, blushing, alcohol addiction, fears, phobias, and any form of anxiety. I will teach you to take control of your thinking. This is also a fantastic way of resolving any form of anxiety by understanding how you thinking is affecting your emotions. please see my website for more information.

I also work with children who have low self esteem, bullying, eating disorders, bed wetting etc..

Further information

Its quite amazing how events in our childhood and our personality type cloud our view of life. Those events and emotions are the key to the choices we make as adults when choosing a partner for ourselves. If we are hurting inside then many of us will sub-consciously attract someone who is also is pain so that we can focus on them and in turn ignore our own feelings. I really do believe that many of us are carrying around emotional baggage and when we find ourselves going through a difficult time then we cant seem to react in a rational way because our emotions are being triggered by the those past events. What makes it more incredible is that the majority of us aren't even consciously aware of what those events were We may be able to think back into our past and recall an event that caused us pain and we can look at it from an adult point of view but when the event happened we were only children and just weren't able to process it so we - bottled it up. That very emotion, when it is found and re-experienced is the same emotion that frees us and heals us from our phobias, IBS, anxieties, stutters, stammers, depression, eating disorders, low-self esteem and irrational fears. That is the real phenomenon behind hypno-analysis. I am sure that most of you reading this, are very wary and a little surprised that Hypnotherapy can help sort out unwanted emotions - I know that I was.

My only knowledge of it was stage hypnosis and I thought that it just made people look like idiots! How wrong I was - not of the stage hypnotists (my views are still the same)) but of the whole phenomenon surrounding hypnotherapy. You see, when youre completely relaxed  and feel safe with your analyst all of your senses are heightened and your ability to recall events naturally through free association are much greater. You can access memories, experiences and most importantly emotions and my favourite saying is that When you feel it you heal it. Hypno-analysis takes a fraction of the time somewhere between 6 and 12 weekly sessions. I can really talk from experience as one of the conditions of qualifying with the IAPH  is that you have to go through your own personal therapy.

For those who are not suitable for analysis, I offer a 4 - 6 session programme teaching you how your mind works. This is a truly effective and powerful indepth understanding which allows you can take back control of your thoughts.  We hve 60,000 thoughts every day!  When you are not managing them they can create havoc with your emotions!!    The thought always come first and the emotion second.
Understanding and applying this fantastic technique will enable you to free yourself from forms of depression and anxieties so you can lead your life to the full.  Happy and free!!!
