About me
Are you ready to make those changes so you can live the life you truly want to live? Then I am here to help. My name is Tricia Maitland and I specialise in the areas of anxiety, confidence and self esteem, motivation, fears and phobias, breaking unwanted habits, sleep issues and smoking cessation. I provide a calm, caring and confidential space for you to work through issues and achieve your therapeutic goals.
What Is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
The popular notion is that when you are hypnotised something is “done” to you and you won’t have any control over the situation. You can be rest assured that this couldn’t be further from the truth!
Hypnotherapy uses trance to access your subconscious mind, and in this state you are more receptive to beneficial suggestions, accepting directions to promote positive change in your life.
But this is only part of the process, as the name “Hypnotherapy” implies. Hypnotherapy also uses psychotherapy techniques, and here at Soulstream I use Solution Focused Brief Therapy, which is a practical, modern and well researched therapy. I focus on helping you to build a positive view of the future rather than focusing on problems or the past, which can help you to make significant and beneficial changes in your life, and help you to reach your potential.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a natural and gentle way to treat all kinds of emotional, nervous or psychological problems. It can also be beneficial in motivating people, whether for a sporting event or to succeed in personal or business life.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy isn’t for everyone, but it is for you if:
- You understand that change takes perseverance and commitment
- You are determined to put in the effort to change
- You are ready to participate fully in the treatment
- You are prepared to work with me towards that wonderful goal of getting you where you want to be
What to expect from me
I'm calm and supportive, a good listener with a friendly and encouraging manner. I create a positive and relaxed environment so as to guide my clients towards the right solutions for them. I have strong ethical standards and will only take on clients if I believe this therapy will help them.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and Psychotherapy (DHP) from the prestigious Clifton Practice in Bristol UK, a recognised centre of excellence for Hypnotherapy. I also hold the Hypnotherapy Practitioners Diploma (HPD), which is currently considered to be the “Gold Standard” in the industry.
I am bound by the strict professional code of conduct and ethics of my profession. I am also fully insured and hold an enhanced DBS check, enabling me to work with children.
I am also a member of the following regulatory bodies:
AfSFH – The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
CNHC – Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council
NCH – National Council for Hypnotherapy
Member organisations
The CNHC encompasses many types of alternative therapy, including hypnotherapy.
In order to be admitted to the register a practitioner must have studied to the National Occupational Standards for that profession/discipline, or have reached the equivalent of the National Occupational Standards through other relevant training or at least three years of experience and been assessed by their peers.
A practitioner must also have professional insurance and agree to abide by the CNHC Code of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
The Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH) was set up to provide information about a modern form of Hypnotherapy and its associated benefits to members of the public. The main aim of the AfSFH is to spread awareness of the benefits of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. Its secondary aim is to support Hypnotherapists in their businesses by encouraging good practice and self-care.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

In the initial consultation we discuss the areas you wish to work on and what you would like to achieve from the hypnotherapy.
