About me

How I Can Help You

Welcome. I am a HypnoIBS® practitioner and will help you manage your IBS symptoms and reduce your anxiety, using an evidence based approach enhanced with hypnosis/relaxation. Although hypnotherapy is not a cure for IBS, it has been shown to be effective in the management of symptoms.  If you need help with things other than IBS, I have extensive experience and can help you with a whole range of other issues that are relevant to you- please read my profile for further information and see what topics resonate most with your needs.

My Background

I have been a solution focused hypnotherapist since 1999. Previous to that I  had many years experience working in a commercial, office environment where I gained valuable "real world" insights into the effects of exessive stress both on a personal level and those of my colleagues. I began my journey as a hypnotherapist because I wanted to learn more about the human mind and learn how I can help people.

What Is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses the principle that you have 2 minds: Your Conscious- the logical and analytical part, and your Subconscious- the creative part that runs in the background. Throughout the day there is a flow back and forth between your conscious "Now" and your subconscious, (the part that we are not conscious of). Your everyday experience and feelings and reactions are filtered through your subconciously held beliefs. Your subconciously held beliefs are a mixture of helpful and unhelpful resources which have been formed though personal experience over your lifetime.  Hypnosis is best described as a state in which your body and conscious mind are totally relaxed, allowing a state of focus and communication with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious is influenced by imagination and is open to suggestions that help you to form better beliefs and undo those limiting beliefs that are holding you back.

The state of hypnosis is acheived by you sitting back in a comfortable chair and listening to my voice as I take you through some relaxing breathing patterns and ask you to relax various muscles, progressively leading you into a dream-like state. The experience will make you feel deeply relaxed and is enjoyable. It is a state between sleep and wakefulness- like daydreaming, which we all do many times throughout the day. After each session you will experience greater levels of energy and good feelings.

You will always be in control during a hypnosis session as you will never lose awareness.

Benefits of Hypnotherapy

I can help you to become unstuck, feel better, feel positive, feel more relaxed and gain a greater sense of control over your life.

My view is that you have the right to enjoy a full and meaningful life. Please look through my profile to get an idea of some of the areas of work that I have experience with.

Additional Services

In addition to the "therapy" element of hypnotherapy, I also offer regular relaxation, visualisation, and de-stress sessions for individuals or groups, including training in the art of self hypnosis- where you can learn a valuable life skill that you can use on a regular basis in order to address life's challenges.

I am available for talks and demonstrations for private groups or corporate clients. Please contact me to discuss.

Sessions are individually tailored for you. "Scripts" (pre written hypnotic inductions and suggestions) are NEVER used. My focus is entirely on you.
