About me

Hello, I'm Sue from The Willows Hypnotherapy.

I am a fully qualified clinical solution focused hypnotherapist working with clients in Huddersfield and also online. I specialise in helping adults, young people and children (over 10) to manage the symptoms of depression and a variety of anxiety related issues including stress, self esteem issues, confidence issues, general anxiety, phobias etc.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is an effective combination of talking therapy and hypnosis which enables me to help people relax, regenerate & grow.

How I became a Hypnotherapist

For 35 years I worked across manufacturing, wholesale & retail industries in buying, merchandising & admin roles up to management level.

I have changed jobs and career a few times and I have worked with the best people (and sometimes the worst).  As a result I have experienced the stresses, the anxieties, and the worries that those types of environments can bring.

Additionally either myself or members of my close family have faced relationship anxiety, exam anxiety, post-natal depression, lack of confidence and self-esteem issues, loss and grief.  This means I am able to relate to the majority of my clients enabling me to fully understand what they are experiencing.

A change in circumstances led me to looking at how I could help others with these types of conditions and I discovered Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH). I enrolled, trained and graduated and here I am, a practicing clinical hypnotherapist and psychotherapist, and I love every minute of it.

What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?

SFH combines talking psychotherapies with a calming relaxing trance to reinforce the message of the session and the goals set by the client themselves.  The psychotherapy in SFH combines key aspects of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP),  Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which are used with Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on positivity,

Avoiding the negative, traumatic events from the past helps engaged clients to recover quickly & effectively.  SFH is a measurable therapy where clients are able to see the progress they are making week on week.

Who am I?

Following my training I see the world in a much more balanced way and now I ensure I have a life away from work.

I have a fantastic (at times) husband,  2 wonderful (occasionally) boys, 2 cats and a dog, Willow.  I am lucky enough to have a good set of friends and a great family who are the best support network.

I love walking in the countryside with my husband & my son’s, along with Willow (the inspiration for the name and my little therapy dog).  We love the Lake District, we often go for weekends away there, but we do love to discover our beautiful & varied country, sampling the sights, sounds & food wherever we go.  I enjoy gardening & holidays in the sunshine.

I also like to read, my head is usually in a book relating to hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, the brain – it’s interesting stuff honestly.  Downtime is essential for my mental health & for all the family, so I prioritise that for all of us.

Do I sound like the type of therapist you could get on with?  If so, why not get in touch?  Email me to set up an initial consultation today, I'd love to hear from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Following my thorough face to face training, I qualified with The Clifton Practice, as a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist.  This school provides the gold standard in hypnotherapy training and I hold their Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH).  I also qualified for the Hypnotherapy In Practice Diploma (accredited by the NCFE & the NCH).

To ensure all my clients benefit from the most up to date research & the latest developments I ensure my skills and knowledge are current by undertaking Continuous Personal Development (CPD's) on a monthly basis.
